Nigel with 16 boards
Tinnon struggled then showed a lot that could help in the future, there at the end.
Pittman is the real deal
Goff actually looked pretty good.

All in all, not bad.  Was speaking to a buddy tonight who made some great points.

Take out the Hofstra game, and the SDSU game and we are pretty much where we are supposed to be.

Look at the fact that SDSU is 10 - 4 and just beat an undefeated New Mexico team in the Pit, and that wasnt so bad.

We are going to win a lot of games, those wins are not going to be pretty.  We are going to have to beat teams up and claw our way to wins.

Kane will be back soon.

I admittedly don't know basketball like I know football but I have some serious concerns about some of the coaching moves made today.

First, things started to fall apart when we left the zone defense.  Unless I missed it we were in man just about the entire 2nd half.  We just weren't athletic enough to match up with them in man.

Second, why in the world did Martin play so many minutes?  Manning and Boykins, IMO, are better suited to handle the ball.

Last, I would be ok with Goff not playing ever.  Horrible attitude and other than 1 block and a couple baskets he was just taking up space today.

I will say this...I was wrong about us being better without Kane.  HOWEVER, I think the team is getting better without Kane.  When he comes back he's going to have a stronger supporting cast.

I thought Goff looked pretty bad today. He is not moving well at all, he looks like his knees are killing him, he has really slowed down a lot, and he had no chance guarding Poythries or Noel today.

Pittman again playing really well, Scarver struggled today with his shot because UK made him shoot on the move and he's not great with that.

You can tell in the last two minutes Amayo looked very comfortable with the ball in his hands, he should get a lot of minutes at PG come C-USA season.

Spikes is 6-10, but plays like he's 5-10. When you're that big, you have to score more than 5.
I agree with above poster, zone bothered UK, we started getting in foul trouble is why we switched out of it, but I don't understand why we didn't go back to it in the 2nd half when they went on their big run.

Second half our defensive man-man philosophy got exposed again like against WVU, we followed screens instead of fighting thru, and go above them instead of under and got killed with lay-ups.

We will be fine against teams that want to run, but we really, really struggle against teams with any type of structure, we don't play smart at all. But, we'll get some wins due to out athlete people.

I agree, Aaron, Spikes had a good game.

Manning and Boykins need to start looking for their shots. Anytime they are in the game together, or with Goff, it is like playing 3 on 5 on the offensive end of the court.

I like the confidence that Amayo played with when he came into the game. You can tell it will take a few games for him to get used to the speed of the college game. But I thought his passes were crisp and he appears to have a lot of confidence in his abilities. Hopefully he can come around quickly so Manning and he can man the point guard spot to let Martin play the two behind Scarver.

Pittman has the size and ability to play on the next level.

I don't watch basketball but noticed the game was on. I tried to watch it. It was harder than trying to watch Herd Football.
