Love this Potential Rule Change (1 vote)
One of the few rule changes that I would like to see in football that would actually make it more fan friendly Every move is anti fan, ie. shortening games, clock always running, etc. Love this one http://m.espn.go.com/nfl/story?storyId=8720551

I was going to say I hate it but shoot if The Herd didn't have to kick off this past year we may be playing in a bowl game right now. Hahahahahaha

RE: Love this Potential Rule Change
I'm not even sure what I just read but it seems to go against the very core of football.

I don't like it either. Just put a dress on everyone or stop tackles all together and play flag football. Kicking is part of the game. They are wanting to completely eliminate special teams.
Why not just kick off or punt and require an automatic fair catch? Wherever the ball is caught or touches the ground is where it's at. That would be just as dumb but better than this rule.

How is that putting dresses on people.
How is that eliminating kicking.
How many coaches are going to take that risk?
Not many, basically would only do it when they need to onside kick.

Aaron, re read the article. It isn't just about replacing the onside. Schiano wants to end ALL kickoffs (due to violent collisions like the one that paralyzed Eric LeGrande).

I know, in theory, that because of the speed involved that more injuries could occur during kick-offs, but I'd like to see the stats before I make my judgement.

Re: Love this Potential Rule Change
I think this is the worst proposed rule change I've ever heard. I had to make sure I wasn't on The Onion because the idea of it is so absurd.
