Re: LIVE UPDATES: Monday Miles Presser

"Finally we're in game week. Ask any player that is on any team that's ever played football, game week means the hard work is done. The grueling task of getting through camp is over. It's now about preparing for that team ... The energy in our building is very good. We're looking forward to getting to Houston."

"We had a purpose this summer. We recognized we are taking on a very tough opponent ... The goal was to get better in each practice. They did that. I like our team and I like our leadership."

Re: LIVE UPDATES: Monday Miles Presser

Les Miles doesn't name a starting QB, but says both will get snaps, says who starts "isn't important." Also praises all four running backs "we will not hesitate to call their numbers." Les cites the veteran offensive line and their leadership.

Re: LIVE UPDATES: Monday Miles Presser

Miles: "Jamie Keehn had as good a camp as he's capable of." Will be starting punter.

Colby Delahoussaye will "figure into national awards" kicking FGs.

Either Trent Domingue or Cameron Gamble will kick off.

"Our specialists will be really good."

Re: LIVE UPDATES: Monday Miles Presser

Miles complimenting Wisconsin now, says Gary Anderson's doing a great job entering his second year to the program. Les also fondly recalls being recruited by Wisconsin "they cared very deeply about their teams." He said it was always difficult playing those guys, and "we recognize the challenge."

Les mentions RB Melvin Gordon, they're preparing to play two QBs. Goes into the history of both Stave and McEvoy and what they bring to the position. Mention's McEvoy's mobility and ability to throw. LSU's preparing for both guys, but he's heard that McEvoy will be the starter. "It doesn't make any different at this point. We're preparing for Wisconsin's best.

"They'll push the ball at you on the ground."

Re: LIVE UPDATES: Monday Miles Presser

Miles on Jalen Mills...

"Jalen Mills is healthy and preparing to play." Doesn't mention a suspension.

Miles on the starting center...

"Ethan Pocic will be our center." Contradicts the depth chart but he's been consistent about that lately

Re: LIVE UPDATES: Monday Miles Presser

On the two QBs...

"Right now, if there was one QB that gave us all the advantages to play, then at some point in time that guy will be our starter. That separation has not occurred. We're preparing to play both guys. If those things happen, it'll play out in front of us. Competition will make that work."

Re: LIVE UPDATES: Monday Miles Presser

On the RG...

"Hoko has really improved, the back end of camp he's come on. I would think that he would start. Washington might still play in spots. Not only at the guard spot, but also at the tackles."

Miles on true freshmen playing Saturday: "I would guess 6-12, and I think six will play key roles."

Re: LIVE UPDATES: Monday Miles Presser

Back to the QBs...

"The good news is we're going to play the best player that gives us the greater chance of victory, whenever that is. The distraction can only be brought in by other people. The only opinion that's worth a damn is that opinion that's derived in our building. That opinion will play those guys. Every one in that building will understand that's the reason why. If at some point in time, it's one guy, our team understands we would have talented QBs but right now they haven't separated themselves. We're not certain, but if two guys can give us greater advantage than one guy, then let's play two."

Les goes on to say that he knows who the starting QB will be, but then jokes...

"It'll either be one guy or the other."

Re: LIVE UPDATES: Monday Miles Presser

On prep for Wisconsin...

"It's a big powerful very physcial, Big 10 team. Our preparation has been conditioning, strength, speed. That doesn't change in the summer. But in camp, we're prepared for a different style of offense than we've seen in past openers. These guys are talented in a different way."

Re: LIVE UPDATES: Monday Miles Presser

On Leonard Fournette...

"He's a very humble guy. Takes coaching all the time. Wants to be a very good player, real quality teammate. He would fall right in line with some of the great teammates we've had. In his room, Magee and Hilliard are great examples and he's every bit of that."

Re: LIVE UPDATES: Monday Miles Presser

Back to Leonard and managing expectations...

"He's going to want the opportunity to do everything he can do. Certainly he'll play a role in this game. We practice like we're going to play. There's not going to be any surprise or shock for him. He'll be able to do the things he's capable of doing, and the great thing about him is that he's humble. When he gets to the game, he'll translate that just like high school. There'll be better players on the field, so it won't be the same, but it would be my suggestion that he's one of those guys that can take hits and he's ready for that. There's no reason for him to think about winning the Heisman tomorrow, just make a contribution, do what he's slated to do and let's go play."

Re: LIVE UPDATES: Monday Miles Presser

On a comparison for Leonard...

"Leonard Fournette, he looks like him. He's a great teammate, competes like heck. wants the opportunity to contribute. I'm for him. I don't want to preempt a performance by saying something that he'll probably exceed...I'm going to let him define who he is."

Re: LIVE UPDATES: Monday Miles Presser

On having success in high-profile openers...

"it gets our attention a long time ago. It happens in the summer when they're running and lifting, there's a comfort in saying 'Wisconsin, this is about the opener.' Our guys enjoy that, it motivates them. At the beginning of game week, it'll be even more heightened."
