The USS Norvtanic....Iceberg Ahead!!!
Okay.....I was hoping, praying, wishing beyond belief that the Chargers would win. I even, somehow, let the homer in me, pick them......Never again!
Anyone on here want to keep calling me a Norv Hater! Go ahead, I wear that name in pride.
Who else is in?
What a complete debacle!!!
There is so many things I want to say right now, but I don't think I have to point them out, and if you don't see the same mistakes, sloppy play, and lack of fire from the Chargers.....that you see week after week after week...then you'll never see it, so keep sipping the kool-aid.
Dean Spanos deserves this loss! He deserves the national embarrassment for not being prepared at the end of last season to make a switch.
Sad....but once again, just more of the same!

What a bunch of BS. This is not Norv. All Rivers had to do was play a decent 2nd half.
Rivers completely blew it. In fact, he played bad all game. It was just more apparent when he gave up a freakin' 24-0 lead.

Now we just need C4L to see the light.
Its time for all the Charger fans with their heads burried in their ass to come up for air. I'm tired of the "we're just happy to have an excuse to drink on Sunday" Norv apologists. Or are we all just happy with Norv's 62% regular season record?

How about the 3rd down in the second half, Chargers up 24-7, they are in field goal range, and Norv calls a seven step drop, Rivers gets sacked and fumbles, and they score??? Same thing happened last game. Second half of the game, and all these long pass plays! F'ng stop them. Short quick passes, run the ball...kick the field goal....Chargers are up 27-7......We win! How's that???? Not to mention, why do the Broncos look like a well-oiled machine on offense and the Chargers look out of sync? Again? Not the coach??? Come on dude! Wake up!

Nothing would make me feel better than to wake up tomorrow to news that Turner has been fired.
Did you see after that last interception the way Turner came over to Philip's side to say something only to have Philip wave him off?
The guy doesn't have the respect of his players. Never should've been moved to head coach in his career. He is a playcaller period, and even at that thought I cringe.
Raiders fans tried to warn us when we hired him. For the first time I'll admit they were right.

RE: The USS Norvtanic....Iceberg Ahead!!!
The play calling, C4L. Our pass protection is poor and Norv still had us going deep. On some of those sack replays, there wasn't a receiver within 12 yards of the LOS. For an alleged offensive guru, Turner just doesn't adjust to personnel situations. And the 1st down runs. Everyone knew those were coming and it didn't work. It was like a poker player bluffing after he'd been called out on it five times. Turner's play calling on first down was awful. Even in the first half it sucked. A flip pitch-out to Mathews on the LEFT (where Harris is playing)? Seriously? The strength of this coach is supposed to be offense. And our offense was absolute shite. Of course, there was Norv smiling on the sideline before the half when we scored to go up 24-0. Why was he smiling with another half to play? And so what should we do? Keep Norv and trade Rivers? If you can't see how Turner is a huge part of this loss, I just don't know what to say. Dean Spanos should be on the phone tonight with Cowher saying "pretty please, I'll fire AJ, too." It should be readily apparent that this franchise has zero chance of winning an SB with AJ Smith and Norv Turner. chargers4life wrote: What a bunch of BS. This is not Norv. RE: The USS Norvtanic....Iceberg Ahead!!!
Rivers continues to regress. I put this squarely on Turner. Tired old predictable offense. Same stinking routes run by the 1990s cowboys. That wasn't Champ Bailey jumping the routes. Is was guys that no one knew until tonight. Here is hoping that Spanos grows a pair of stones and shows Turner the door. Of course we play some crappier teams for the next three weeks after the bye so a couple of wins will settle old Deano down.
CHUCKIE, come to San Diego, the finest city in America, and lead us to the Super Bowl! If you then become an intolerable bully, I'll be okay with that.

RE: The USS Norvtanic....Iceberg Ahead!!!
ya, exactly, Rivers gets sacked and fumbles the ball during an attempt to comeback. Groundhog day. F'ing Manning with a less talented team didn't crumble under the pressure. Rivers was given an undeserved 24-0 lead and blew it. Chargerhonk wrote:

Re: The USS Norvtanic....Iceberg Ahead!!!
On the bright side, the guy I was playing in my fantasy league had Rivers as his quarterback. There's a lot of blame to spread around tonight. Here's how I see it:
AJ Smith- neglecting the o-line forever with our immobile and apparently jittery qb is a recipe for disaster.
Norv Turner- way to blow a 24 point lead. I really liked how you mixed up your play-calling to put our players in good situations and adjusted to the intense pressure Denver was bringing when they realized that our tackles can't actually play football at the pro level. The whole second half was like watching Mike Tyson kick the crap out of a kid with cerebral palsy. That was an epic meltdown. What's most telling about it is that it didn't surprise me at all.
Rivers- dude, take a xanax or something. You're wound up too tight. We all miss Jackson, but you can't just throw the ball up in the air and pray the tall guy is gonna get it all the time anymore. You used to be kind of clutch and now we all know we're going to lose when we're down late. However...
Meachem- Have you EVER made an adjustment on a ball in the air, you worthless piece or crap? Did they ever ask you to do that in New Orleans? You could have bailed out your qb or heck, maybe even caught a couple extra balls.
Our secondary- you're embarrassing a perfectly good defense.
Shaun Phillips- I'm just nitpicking here, but are you too cool to run off the field at full speed before the ball is snapped? It was pretty much a given that we were going to lose at that point, but still, that was a stupid penalty.
I don't know if this is more of the same Honk. This was worse.

Re: The USS Norvtanic....Iceberg Ahead!!!
Good stuff here. I would add that AJ doesn't have the stones to fire an incompetent HC and Turner will only hire offensive assistants with less knowledge than he has. Hal Hunter as OC? Really? Does anyone think that he could get an OC job for any other NFL team? This is the guy that told us how good Clary was. Don't they watch tapes?
