Cason needs to step it up

Cason needs to step it up

First of all, I am happy for my Chargers. That was a big win, especially since it was within the division. I was happy with the end result.

Although, one of the things that I seen last night was Cason allowing too many completions in front of him. He did not look that good last night. He did a nice job on one or two pass deflections, but I just don't understand why he was playing 10 yards off his man on 3rd & 4 in a man-to-man situation. Of coarse Palmer picked up the 1st down when Cason's man runs a 7 yard turn around. There were just too many other completions that Cason allowed in front of him for me to go into. He gives his man way too much cushion.

I hope he improves through out the season. I know he is a better corner that what he showed last night.

Big win?

The chargers average starting field position was the Oakland 46 and it came down to an onside kick.

Big win?

42-14 is a big win.

Shame on Cason for playing off his man but why didn't Pagano have him tighten it up?

Because he doesn't trust the speed of our CBs. It's fear of getting burned deep.

I will say Cason had a great deflection on that deep ball, but he's such a poor tackler.

He is what he is. Don't see Gilchrist becoming a stud. Pretty certain we'll need to draft a CB high next year, perhaps even in the first.

What I want to know is where was Wright?  I thought that he by far had the best preseason of all CB's.

Injured his foot during the game. Don't know the severity yet. I think we may scour the waiver wire this wk for both OT and CB.

Cason is likely not in our long term plans.

Wright may be missing some time and what makes you think Gilchrist is any better?

IMO Gilchrist plays the man tighter and he's not shy of contact, he actually initiates it

We need to be more physical in the secondary

McFadden had all those catches but right now he's just coming out of the ice bath...from last night

Re: Cason needs to step it up

I started this thread after the week 1 game and thru 4 games Cason has not improved.

Cason is terrible. I don't think he has ever looked this bad. I hope Wright gets an opportunity to replace him once he comes back from his ankle injury

I get so angry watching Cason play, I don't understand how he has regressed so much.

Cason will be riding someone else's bench next year, IMO.  Corner and O-line should be the only priorities this offseason.

Corner's a need for sure, but I liked what i saw from Wright before his sprain.  I think Wright can take Cason's spot as the #2 CB this year if he can build on his preseason, and if his injury can be recovered from.

So that would leave Jammer in need of "replacing", and that means another draft pick.

Gilchrist/Wright doesn't sound like a starting tandem to me...

High ankle sprain.  That is going to screw with him all season.  I do like him but not sure he does much this year.  I would consider Gilchrest again at the corner and move Cason to bench or nickel.

All season, Doc?  Really?  I thought normal recovery time was 4-6 weeks for those.
