DAL vs SD gameday thread

surprised one isnt up but just watched Rivers throw a INT and it was all on him, seems hes still got his jittery feet causing him to underthrow the ball to Meachem disbelief

defense doin well to give up 3 points after DAL had ball for 12 min in 1st qtr

I think everyone was waiting for the tape delay to watch it.

Anyway, the offense looks terrible so far.  Although the D has been okay, there's zero pressure on Romo.

TD Cowboys.  10-0.

Ugh, another interception (that's two now). Although this one wasn't Rivers fault.  Right off the receiver's hands.

Yeah thats a drive that probably ends in points if VB doesn't drop the ball.

As it is, all we're gonna hear this week is "Rivers continues to turn the ball over, whats wrong with him!"

Lousy 1st half. First team offense plays the whole half and barely crosses midfield.

Amazing TD catch by Brown!

Breaks his ankle for the effort.

Pre-season F'n sucks.

Seriously!!!!!  I was just thinking before that happened about how much I F'N HATE PRE-SEASON.  I was even trying to think of ways that the NFL could make the Preseason count for something, but at the end of the day it's as worthless as the Pro Bowl except for the Owners who make $$$.  If the injury is serious, which it sounds like it is, I'm going to lose some optimism for this season as Brown is one of the players I'm highest on.

By the way, I understand the 2nd one wasn't his fault, but can PR get it together as it relates to interceptions.

Shareece Wright is going to be a bright spot on this defense. If Ingram and Reyes and Mouton and a bunch of other young guys step up with some of the other free agent additions, defense will be much improved.

The Chargers offense on the other hand...lets hope the first half was just some pre-season rust.

I just finished watching the game here in Dallas,  First team offense was UGLY even against Dallas number twos.  Keep in mind that Ware and Spencer did not play either.  On D, Tony Romo had all day to throw and we could not stop the run.  VB's TD was gorgeous until he pulled up holding his ankle.

Enjoy the game.

Acee says broken ankle for Vincent Brown, out at least 8 weeks.

Shareece Wright looked like a player tonight. Also like Ricky Elmore. He may be a victim of #rs at the LB spot though. Hated to see VB go down. Was looking forward to a big season from him. Hate these preseason injuries.

Both Gamble and Elmore have had 2 really good pre-season games.

I truely believe VB is a 1000 yard receiver in this league, not a traditional #1, but a chain mover like Derek Mason.  Regardless of how Eddie Royal steps in and performes we're going to miss Brown.

Royals role on this team now looms a lot larger. Losing VB is HUGE! I feel so bad for the guy, he really was on the verge of blooming into a legitimate WR in the league.  I think a broken ankle injury is worse than 8 weeks...but we shall see.

Shareece has looked good all camp Honk. I agree with you that there are several young Bolts on the defense that look ready to step up.

Of every practice I've attended, Ricky Elmore has looked better to me then Larry English. I'm not a Larry hater, I'm just relaying what my eyes tell me.

Thanks Joe for the info!

I am not familiar with Elmore, can you tell me more about him when you get a chance?

BTW...What's your assessment of the Chargers offense right now? Obviously VB is out but if Mathews and Gaither can come back and play, can this team win the West?

RE: DAL vs SD gameday thread

He's an effort guy; I'd put him behind Phillips, Ingram, Gamble, and Barnes at getting the corner to the QB but he's faster then the rest. Most of his mistakes have been mental as they've reinforced the techniques that they want him to use against the run and pass each practice. Not re-teaching every single play, but more then any other OLB which could be a reason why they don't keep him.

I'm extremely concerned about the offense right now. Having Gaither as he was at the end of last season would make a huge difference, but assuming we're down our RB, WR, and LT for the first month of the year I'd be happy for a 2-2 split. Not good at all...disbelief

This is what we do every offseason, we get all hyped up over the roster and the obvious talent....and then Norv fields his team.  I really hope tonight was just 2 scoops of French Vanilla on both sides of the ball, because our offense once again looked like a 2nd tier middle of the road group, choppy and undisciplined.  Worse, I saw some alarming things on defense that reminded me vividly of Manusky.

Seriously, I can't emphasize enough how much respect I loose for Norv every time we start a 2 minute drill with a run up the middle and a screen pass.

Thankfully this looked like a week 4 regular season game for us, maybe it'll be a smack of reality for these guys.

RE: DAL vs SD gameday thread

Norv is and will always be the most predictable coach in the NFL. Has amazing talent, but his steadfastness to his playstyle keeps him from getting with the times. When was the last time he out-coached someone? And this isn't a reaction to tonight's horrid first half, which was a nightmarish remembrance of the last couple of years' fatal flaws -- inability to get D off the field and turnovers.

Feel bad for Brown. He is definitely going to be a big piece to the offense. Rivers worries me these days, as does our starting CB's. Cason will never be a guy I trust to suit up and play smashmouth. He thinks too much for a position that's instinctual. And the OL is allowing way too much pressure. For once, can WE get a push and get 5 yards just because the OL is stout and not because we have FB paving the way.

RE: DAL vs SD gameday thread

The Chargers were horrible in the first half. Rivers looked terrible along with two interceptions. The Cowboys owned them in the first hlf. The Chargers came alive in the second half.

Great Catches by Brown and Willie and awesome runback by Spurlock.

Whitehurst looked really good tonight. He was credited with a fumble that look like it should have been on the center. Molk I think.

The delayed telecast was not good. Editing was horrible. At one point the Cowboys downed the ball just inside the 10, I think, on the kickoff and then went to commercials, then right afterwards, the Chargers had it near midfield. What the heck? This happened at least twice and I have no idea how the Chargers got the ball back.
