Does Rivers need a ring to crack the top tier?

Does 'Elite' Label Ring True?

Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco and Tony Romo are among the so-called second tier of NFL quarterbacks soon to be in line for new NFL contracts. Their stats will help define the parameters of those big-money deals, but can they be defined as elite until they’ve produced under playoff pressure, asks Len Pasquarelli. Read More...

I'm not going to predict Philip Rivers will lead the Chargers to the promised land this season ... not yet, anyway. But I will note that, in our experts poll for the Fox Sports Season Preview magazine, I picked Rivers to win the League MVP award. That would go a long way towards him getting the national credit he surely deserves.

Yes. Unfortunately for him he probably signed his last contract already, he'll be 35 before its up. So its extremely doubtfull he'll ever sign a $100M deal.

I won't start a new thread, since Mike's is about Philip, but here is another good article about our guy, and the team in general.

Well as much as I hate and despise him, Rivers is a top tier qb in this league. Imo he doesn't need a ring to prove that he can be in the same conversation as the top guys.

People tend to forget or not acknowledge the fact the the Steelers may have won two SB's with Ben, but they were by far a running team in doing it more than a passing team.

Rivers is running out of time, no argument there but to say he career was average because he didn't get a ring is laughable. Like I said I don't like the guy obviously, but I hated Elway too and it was still nice to see him get one. Now two? That just made me hate him again, lol.

So how will you feel when Rivers becomes the only quarterback in history to win 3 in a row biggrin?
