Police are responding to a shooting at JR Seau's house

The coroner has been called, rumor has it that Jr Seau is dead....Will post a link as soon as I have one.

If this is true, today is officially terrible beyond belief.

Holy crepe!

I think it was pretty obvious that this guy had some demons he was dealing with....like the car driving off the cliff last year, but how sad.....ever since he's been out of football, he's had a tough time. A lot of these guys don't know what to do with themselves.

My condolences to his family! RIP #55........

Won't comment on some of the things I know about his personal life but it's true that he has passed, it's a sad ending to one of the best Charger players to set foot on the grid iron.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.

Man this sucks...

I've met Junior twice and both times, he was very cordial and polite.

Loved watching him on the field. Played with so much love and fire.

RIP #55

My condolences obviously to his family and friends, and thoughts to all San Diego Chargers fans.  I know he spent time w/Miami and New England afterwards, but this is where his NFL home was and always will be.

So sad. That '95 Super Bowl team seems cursed.

They are reporting it was a self inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.

Wasn't there at least one other ex-player who did the same (shot themself in the chest) after his career was done so his brain could be studied for brain damage due to excessive concussions?

I wonder if it's related.

Bummer anyways... hell of a player.   Always liked him (except when he played for the Pats and Dolphins)

Damn. R.I.P. Junior. What could have made him so despondent that he would take his own life? I remember a saying that I used to use when I gave suicide briefings in the military. "Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem."

I am lost for words on the passing of Jr.  God Bless you Jr, your family and your fans.

What a HUGE, HUGE loss.

If Seau committed suicide by shooting himself in the chest, it is similar to the way former Chicago Bears great Dave Duerson ended his life. Duerson shot himself in the chest on February 17 -- the method used so that his brain could be examined for symptoms of CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy), a trauma-induced disease common to NFL players and others who have received repeated blows to the head.

Re: Police are responding to a shooting at JR Seau's house

Very possible he was suffering from all the hits and concussions to his head. He dragged his career at the end way past his prime. There is always side effects to all these hits these guys take.........I am sure the NFL sees this as part of a current case against them by all the ex-players who suffer from their injuries.
