2012 Undrafted Free Agents

2012 Undrafted Free Agents

Thought I'd start a thread on some gems that could be as undrafted free agents.  Feel free to throw in some other names of guys you feel that could be undrafted gems.

Armond Armstead (DE) very explosive edge rusher as a hands in the dirt guy.  Only 5 lbs lighter than the Bolts 2nd round pick K. Reyes.

Joe Long (OT) best suited as a LT but considered underdeveloped and needs some weight room time.

Levy Adcock (RT) Very athletic player that didn't get much love because he was not only a late bloomer but some thought his work ethic stunk early on in his college career.

Chris Polk (RB) Shoulder issues kept this kid from being drafted this year.  But is definitely a solid work horse type.

Mike Brewster (C) I don't remember his named being mentioned in this draft either but I had him graded out a tab better than Molk.  But that was because of measurables.  However, Brewster does have some injury red flags so that could be why he too would have been left off the draft board.

Vontaze Burfict (LB) This should be a big time wake the hell up call for this young man.  Plug him at OLB and tell him to seek and destroy the QB of the edge.

Adonis Thomas (RB) quicker than fast but is very elusive.  Health is a red flag though.

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.

Re: 2012 Undrafted Free Agents

If Embree can fix his inconsistent hands, great signing.
Charles Burton could also be a nice diamond in the rough.  I was researching Joe Montana's kid and they actually have some nice developmental guys there.
The App State kid could also turn some heads.  Saw a couple of films on him,  not bad.

I'm not so sure about the other picks though as I'm not as familiar with them.  I wonder if Joe Montana and Phil Simms boys are going to get picked up.  Saw that John Brantley went to the Ravens.

RE: 2012 Undrafted Free Agents

Presley sounds interesting. A lot of potential with only one year at CB. From NFL.com:

Overview:

Presley started one game at QB as a freshman, one game at WR as a sophomore, every game at QB as a junior, and moved to corner out of team necessity as a senior. He is an explosive athlete who has starter-like talent for the NFL once he hones his skills on the defensive side.

Strengths:
Presley is a natural athlete who doesn't labor to get himself moving. Has the footwork to pivot either inside or out, and run and turn with anyone. Has the speed to recover against any receiver, and he relies heavily on this explosiveness to stay with his man. Can drive on the ball when he sees it.

Weaknesses:
Although Presley's transition displayed a great deal of football character, it provided a setback in his readiness for the pros. While he will be able to rely on his athletic ability early, unless his physicality, technique, and weight continue to rise he could struggle in his pro transition.

Jarrett Lee has to be one of the worst undrafted free agent signings in chargers history.

Lee was terrible at LSU.

Re: 2012 Undrafted Free Agents

So true. Wish AJ would take the need for 3rd QB more seriously. You would think with just 2 QBs on roster they would have pick of UDFA QBs but to get Lee is a waste.

Adonis Thomas could be another UDFA gem and Gehlken says we got Logan Harrell who I think could surprise some people as well.

Being that I am a current Rebel, I love seeing Philip Payne headed to my favorite pro team.

Can you tell us about him because someone else mentioned him too. I saw him play live twice and still can't remember him.

I live out here in Vegas too Joe and the kid's a GAMER. Had like almost 200 catches and 30 career TDs for a $#itty UNLV team. Real good height at 6'3", good body control and pretty good hands. Not fast tho and needs to bulk up a bit. Was a stud his Soph and Jr year and fell off a little Sr year due to new coaching staff treating him like a piece of garbage. They suspended him for a couple games too (Twitter!!!!). Gona be a long shot to make team but could see him on PS or one of other 31 NFL rosters for sure.

Re: 2012 Undrafted Free Agents

Chargers picked up USC's Christian Tupou, if he can stay healthy he could make some waves,  Strong kid but tends to negate his own strength at times by stand up off the snap, but when he keeps his pads low, he can be a workhorse.  Him Dajon Harris had the same issue I think.

I'm still hoping for Armond Armstead though.   He'd be great as a 3-4 DE and as sub-package DE.  He wouldn't have to be moved as he's a great edge rusher.  And is solid enough of a DE to keep him there on rushing downs in the base 3-4.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.

Re: 2012 Undrafted Free Agents

Thanks restored he sounds intriguing. I still can't remember him though.

Two guys I'm watching out for is Armstead and Larry Parker. No word on either guy.

Jarrett Lee has 0% chance of making the team and is nothing more then camp fodder so no worries.

We added a WR from OK St and an OT from Syracuse but I'm on the Droid at breakfast and don't have their names in front of me.
