Broncos cut Vickerson

Time for the Chargers to get on the phone and pick this beast up. Big surprise cut is exactly what The Chargers needed to bulk up their D-line.

The question is, just how healthy Vickerson is.

Re: Broncos cut Vickerson

according to the post they just thought he was long in the tooth and wanted to go younger. The cut is a huge surprise since he was the starter last year

The 31-year-old Vickerson got his hip healthy in time to play in the final two preseason games, but it wasn't enough. Marvin Austin and Mitch Unrein are now the primary candidates to back up Terrance Knighton and Sylvester Williams. The Broncos save $2 million by dumping Vickerson. Aug 30 - 12:02 PM

YES.  This is finally the break we needed.  He is still playing at at a very high level, and I love the idea of "revenge" when he plays his old team.

This one's a no brainer TT.

I like the idea!   Would he be effective in our 3-4?

Re: Broncos cut Vickerson

We'll he's 6'5', 328lbs, so I think he's got the power to anchor at the Nose, but I think he's had more experience at DE and DT in a 4-3.

I'm actually thinking he comes in and UPGRADES Kendall Reyes at 3-4 DE!  Vickerson and Liuget sounds like a scary combo.

Ingram/Freeney would love it.....

I trust TT will make the correct move here. I have no idea if Vickerson is any good or not. Does anyone have any tape on him before he dislocated his hip last November?

Re: Broncos cut Vickerson

I'm not sure about the injury last November, but he has played extremely well in the preseason, meaning he's fine now.  He was squeezed out of the roster due to younger, and cheaper DT's on the team playing as well or better than him.  As a Charger, he'd be an immediate starter at DE, and might be versatile (although relatively untested) enough to play the Nose.

The question is whether TT has the cap space and the WILL to drop between $2-2.5 Mil per year on the guy, which is what he was paid in Denver.

This might be a pipe dream fellas, but crazier things have happened.

Re: Broncos cut Vickerson

Vickerson was caught up in a combination of salary cap casualty/numbers game. If he's healthy and the $$$ is right, absolutely you go after him.

Are signing these releases a free-for-all for any team or is their a hierarchy/order like with waiver claims?

He played the final 2 preseason games.

It's not surprising he was cut, but wish they would have kept him for possible situations like this but oh well, roster as deep as Denver's, gotta make some hard decisions.

He's more of a 2-down DL, doesnt offer a ton of pass rush.

Re: Broncos cut Vickerson

This is how you enable links (make them work or whatever)...

I had to be taught this so no judgment!

1. Run your cursor over the entirety of the link.

2. Hit "copy"

3. Hit the little chain link thing next to the hyphen and the horseshoe (steps one and two will bolden the chain link).

4. Paste the link into the "Link URL" area of the box that comes up after hitting that chain link thingy.

5. Then hit "OK at the bottom of the box and that should do it.

6. One other thing...you can only access this feature by hitting the  reply topic button. Quick reply won't do it.
