OT: Tebow vs Manziel

OT: Tebow vs Manziel

Just for fun sake and I'm pretty bored right now. Ir you had just these two to pick from coming out of college. Whom and why would you pick that indivdual?

For me, I think I'll take Timmy Touchdown. Always had the good ol college try press conference. Said the right things. Smiled all the time and like it or not.....won at this level. Granted there were mitigating circumstances but still, a win is a win is a win.

Plus I'm really not impressed by the draft day money jesture (as if to let us know he's money in the bank) followed by angry birds flying The Washington Native Americans way over a couple of words in just the preseason loss.

We already have Philip Protestant Rivers. (I know he's not not Protestant guys) Only difference between Rivers and Timmy is their ability to spin it. If Timmy could spin the rock like Rivers he'd still be in the NFL. Either that or change positions.
It's not about how many times you get knocked down.  It's whether or not you are willing to get back up.

Re: OT: Tebow vs Manziel

I'm thinking that Manziel is a mixture of 3/4 Tebow, and 1/4 Leaf.

He might be confident and all, and "talk-ey"....  but his immaturity is mixed with instability due to ego-issues.  I think that once his ego takes enough licks in this league, he might just come crashing down spectacularly. He's already flipping off angry birds in his first preseason.  Imagine now that Hoyer is the starter, how patient he'll be!  And if he gets a chance and falters?  Watch out!

Where's the popcorn?  LOL.

IMO a big difference between Tebow and Manziel is that Tebow doesn't have nearly the massive ego, nor sense of entitlement that Manziel does (all rookies should be humble to get a chance in the NFL, and Manziel has acted like a Terrell Owens after 10 PROVEN years in the league....  really bad move).

Personally, I'd have drafted Tebow over Manziel.  At least if it didn't work out, you could use Tebow as a tailback.  Manziel is either a good QB or a bust!

Manziel.

Don't care about the overconfidence. Don't care about the money gesture. I think it's immature, and it is, but it won't make any difference once he makes the field.

He can throw the rock.  Tebow can't.

Oh, and Johnny Football doesn't come with a legion of irrational Christian supporters. Nothing wrong with being a Christian, but nobody should keep or lose a job based on whether or not they are one.

I'm not so worried about the cockyness of Manziel, but his apparent lack of commitment to football. I think he's your typical trust fund kid with talent, he works because his job is a game but he doesn't take it seriously. And when given the option he will always choose party over preparation.

I can't stand Tebow either, so I pick none.

Johnny "Numnuts" needs realize that playing in the NFL is a privilege and not a given right. One of the established vets on the Browns should grab him, pull him aside, slap him upside his head and explain it to him.

I know probably 90% of the forum is going to say I'm nuts, but I believe the NFL shouldnt allow you to declare until you Have completed your junior year or have red shirted a year and then you can come out a sophomore!
Just my opinion only guys

Play every down like the season's riding on it !

I would probably take Manziel.  He doesn't have the bad mechanics of Tebow.  If you have the right type of coach, I believe he can be productive.  He needs mentoring and firm coaching.

Found out Middle fingers are going for $12,000 right now!

The NFL fined Johnny Manziel $12,000 for directing a middle finger at the Redskins' bench in Monday night's second preseason game
Manziel can appeal the fine and have it reduced to 25 percent of his weekly check, which would be about $6,000. It's really a non-issue, but became one because of who Manziel is and that it was caught on national television.

I'm even farther outside than you Vise....  Personally I believe that College is an educational institution first and foremost, and the whole reason for "going to school" is to get a degree.  I think that players shouldn't be eligible for the NFL unless they graduate.  I know that's extreme, but that's how I feel.  These players are supposed to be heroes to our kids.

When I hear of gun charges, violence against women, running a dog fighting ring etc, I just shake my head.

Maybe having to GRADUATE will weed out the idiots, and the quality of player that gets to the NFL will not only be an amazing athlete, but also respectable, intelligent young men.

Does that put me at 99% of the forum saying I'm nuts?

For me, everything changed when I had a Son.  It's amazing how your viewpoints on some things change.....
