Sucks for him.  Didn't even make it to TC.
It's not about how many times you get knocked down.  It's whether or not you are willing to get back up.

The Chargers just got better by getting rid of this bum. Hated the pick. His play was awful! Good riddance!!!

Yes, but now he has a much better chance to catch on with someone else instead of waiting till the end of camp.  Best of luck to him and I hope he is able to take his talents elsewhere.

If he had talents, he would be still here!
Not to be rude DBW, but that's how I see it!
I guess there won't be any English vs Freeney debates this year!
Also according to this article Freeney is ready and Williams is looking real good which made this decision easier, and
IMO Freeney is also being kept around to mentor our future mainstay Atta!

Are they starting to pair the roster down or are they making room for somebody new?

Re: Chargers release Larry English

They released Nick McDonald yesterday supposededly to make room for another C they had their eye on in OTA's
But this, not sure yet, but it was way overdue!

Edit: just found this
The San Diego Chargers added another center to the mix on Tuesday, signing former Stanford star Khalil Wilkes to a three year contract.

The 6-3, 286-pounder was a second team All-Pac-12 selection in 2013, and was a key member of a stout offensive line.  Anchoring the middle, Stanford allowed the 11th fewest sacks in the nation.  Wilkes attended Chargers' rookie mini camp earlier this offseason on a tryout basis.

They signed an OLB Adrian Hamilton. He's  6-3 255 who was with the Ravens last year. Camp body perhaps. Law & Williams must be opening some eyes. eek

Re: Chargers release Larry English

If he signs with a team that plays the Bolts this year - and he makes it to that game without breaking something, AGAIN - I'm just glad the old Bolts offensive line and its coaches are now gone.  Because Broken and his one move apparently beat the old offensive line like a drum every day in practice, which is likely why he was kept around for as long as he was.

Which tells you plenty about the old offensive line and its coaches, too.

Well why not take the high road.  The man has been injured pretty much since he's been here.  It happens.  There were a lot of people bashing Ryan Matthews until last year.  Now he's everybody's "best friend" because of how he played last year.  It's a brutal game and some guys always have injury problems.  No need to rub salt into his wounds as the business side of the game is extremely brutal also.  Wish him well and move on.

Thanks, DUBF! Saved me the trouble of going and getting all of them myself. Such a MASSIVE waste of a first-round draft choice.ohlord

Re: Chargers release Larry English

Did they respond to my post?  There's your answer.

Everybody blames English for not being a good number 1 pick.  He did not draft himself.  Maybe he should not have been drafted in that spot.  Apparently A. J. Smith overvalued his talent.  I don't know I wasn't there.  Just because he did not perform up to your expectations doesn't mean he wasn't busting his ass on the field.

It's easy to bash players from the cheap seats when you may not have the whole story.  I don't take it personally if players don't live up to expectations.  Some on here feel like they have had something stolen.  The man got injured several times.  I don't think that was his intent.  Now the Big Lazy deserved every bit of criticism he got.

English apparently had done some really good things in the community, so wish him well and move on.
