All about the Green

Good write up on Green, a lot of people outside of Charger land are lining up to jump on the LG band wagon

Nice article Vise.  I can't wait to see more of Gates and Green on the field at the same time.  This offense should be clicking on all cylinders right out of the gate!

Re: All about the Green

Thanks,I'm thinking he may line up like a TE, but he will be a WR this year, especially if Floyd doesnt hold up, but even using The two TE set as the article states, I believe Gates and Green will flip flop roles this year, changing of the guard if You will.
BTW Joe, I stumbled on something you posted about how you hope McCoy lets Reich do his thing and let him Coach
(I'm paraphrasing a bit) I couldn't agree anymore! Well I mean if it's OK with Rivers first! LOL

Re: All about the Green

Yea, clearly Green plays like a WR, which is what is so exciting, like a young Kellen Winslow, only faster and taller..LOL.  While I see both he and Gates on the field MORE, I still think we will see Green often in the slot, as it much easier for him to get into his breaks and downfield that way.

You know, part of the reason I said that about Mccoy is I am still suspicious in some of the games last year as to who really was hitting the brakes on the playcalling.  I love Mccoy and Telesco for that matter, but I was not pleased with the mentality often in games last year.  I just hope Reich has the green light for the full 60 minutes and that the team goes for the throat when they have the opportunity.  We have a tough schedule, and cannot afford to lose games because we failed to close them out.  Cant wait for Training Camp!

Re: All about the Green

From what I keep reading, a lot of people think he will get around 35-40 catches this year with 5-6 TDs. IMO, I think they are going to use Green all over the field and create mismatches with him. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up with more catches and TDs than Gates. I can see 50-55 recs. and 8-9 TDs. They are going to use him in the redzone a lot more. THEY FRIGGIN BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!
Without struggle, there is no progress.

With the weapons we have, and the Offense we Think Reich will be calling, I can't see how our RZ % doesn't get a whole Lot better!

I like Green back to the days when he played the Aztecs in a bowl game and beat us.  He is very versatile and needs to learn to block.  Otherwise his offensive skills are great.

Nah, Gates is the blocking TE now! LOL
You are correct, most great receivers are/ were good blockers.

Sounds like we'll see Green's snaps double this season.  He is quite lethal as a home run threat.

Watching Gates in the playoffs last year was thoroughly uninspiring, I'm just hoping he's not done.

Re: All about the Green

The double teamed Gates a lot so when Green emerges and we have both Allen and Floyd I predict Gates and Green will have a great year.

Re: All about the Green

Gates was not double teamed a lot Slam, I even saw James Harrison drapped over him in man coverage a few times. Defenses don't fear Gates anymore because he doesn't have deep speed anymore, his YPR (yards per route run) were the lowest of his career in 2013.

Re: All about the Green

What will probably happen is a role reversal, Green is going to go off, get the double teams, that should leave Gatesy able to run wild, If there is anything left. IMO He has at least one more Good year left, I'm sure he wants a ring just as bad as anyone on this team, and it it probably won't be this year, but I wouldn't bet against this team either! How bad do you want it!noidea

And I think him missing OTAs and minicamp (undisclosed personal issue) is a red flag already.  Gates needs to be in tip top shape with his head on strait to have one of those comeback years you often see older players have, and not seeing him out there is a bad sign, even if it is excused.

Re: All about the Green

After Floyd went down it seemed like they doubled him.  At least on the play against KC that Green scored the long TD two guys went with Gates.  If Gates is healthy he can still be a force.   Tony Gonzalez proved you can be older and still play TE.

Re: All about the Green

I believe the fasciitis is behind him now, which was the main hitch in his giddy up, so like with just about everything
else with this team right now, TC will tell a lot, unless he gets some pass for that? Slam the Gonzalez take is spot on, but Tony was very special, I would like to think so is Gates, and like I said, he is making A Lot of money this year! But so is Clary, about that.....

BTW a happy 4th to ya guys, I'm stuck at work!

Yes Tony is the best of all time.   Gates has not been the same seen the plantar facial tear but I hope he is fully healthy this year.      Aa far as Clary  barf.gif
