Brandon Taylor, gotta feel bad for that guy. He's never even had a fair/healthy shot at showing he can play. But I can see him easily getting cut for Darby.

The rest I hope all get cut.

Re: Who Gets Cut?

Brandon Taylor is a perfect example of complete breakdown in the scouting process.  Injuries aside, he probably was never going to be a starter.  Every other team passed on him because it was supremely obvious before the draft that this guy couldn't cover.  He had only the most rudimentary experience in coverage.  His skills were akin to those of a LB in zone coverage, not as a DB.  He showed during the pre-draft process he had only mimimal understanding muchless experience in coverage technique and concepts.  To then expect a guy to learn those things at the NFL level is asking too much for anyone.

His play when he did get on the field was very poor by any standard.  Then his injuries simply compounded the issue by putting him further and further behind.

Mouton is the one I feel for.  He could definitely play but his career has been completely derailed by injuries.  Personally I would rather have a healthy Mouton than Kavell Conner.  Mouton can be strong against the run, bring something as a blitzing ILB and drop into coverage.  Conner is a one trick pony, he's strong against the run and a liability against the pass.  IMO Bird is better than Conner.

I'm not so quick to say English is a lock to be gone.  I think it comes down to Law or English as I'm not sure they can or will carry both.   Law has to show he can be stout at the POA when playing the run.  Historically he never has been.  He must also show his Canadian experience translates to the NFL.  Reports are he looked good in OTAs but that's a long way from winning a spot in TC.

I also don't think Clemons is a lock to make the team.  If Sorenson has another strong showing in preseason I think Clemons could get released on that last cut down.

I've grown frustrated with all Free Safeties (Gregory, Stuckey and basically Gilchrist)we've had the last few years and hoped Taylor would finally be an answer at SS.  And Mouton, I think everyone on this board knew he was a bust when drafted.  Even my Michigan friends knew he sucked.  He was actually slower than Spikes when we saw him last.  Can't imagine Connor being worse than Mouton

Of those players, Mouton and Taylor haven't been able to see the field so IMO they are at most risk to be let go.

English, while not spectacular, IMO is the best of the 4 players in terms of positive contribution.  He's a role player, but not a first round talent.

Clary is the worst player of the group, but I think he sticks until we see what we have in Watts.

If TC is ' Fair and the best man wins' we should be OK, no favorite holdovers just because, kinda what inspired my
New Sig.

Hey Guys, play the first half like its the second half!

Looks like Taylor was first.  Whose next?  Can Clary be cut while he is injured?

Re: Who Gets Cut?

Stine is right. They will all get axed.

Mouton and English will likely make it to training camp but will likely not make it to the final 53.

Clary of them all has the best chance to make it but because his price doesn't match his play. He will get cut for sure if he doesn't take a pay cut and may very likely get cut anyway because ye won't be ready for the season that soon after surgery.
It's not about how many times you get knocked down.  It's whether or not you are willing to get back up.

Freeney is Telesco's man so he's untouchable.  English is AJ's guy so he won't stay even though he outplayed Freeney last year.  And you guys still contend that roster decisions are strictly the realm of McCoy?   Yeah sure they are.  rolleyes

Yeah, I'm sure that's the only reason Dwight Freeney, future HOFr and veteran mentor, will beat out Larry "IR squad captain" English out on the 53 man roster.

Grow up. And while you're at it look up the word outplayed in the dictionary....
