Breakout Players

Breakout Players

Not usually a fan of prisco, but I completely agree with him in this case when it comes to the bolts he listed.  I think all three have a legit chance of being pro bowlers next year with Ingram being the wild card.  Kinda surprised to see the Chargers have the most on his list.  Also think it's a theme for a chargers this year.  Even though everyone's down on them for not doing that much in free agency, I think out of  the afc west, they have the most players with the opportunity for growth this season.  I think you legitimately add green, teo and possibly a few others to this list.

Re: Breakout Players

I think that CHARGERS breakout players have to include TE LaDarius Green as head of his class.  He just needs more opportunities, and I think he could really be an absolute STAR in this league.

The next player that has potential to "turn the corner", and maybe not break out, but become an above average CONTRIBUTOR, is DE Kendall Reyes.  I hope so anyways.  He works hard, has the right attitude, and just needed to get stronger and work on his technique.  I think he could be every bit as good as Liuget was for us last year, BUT I do have some skepticism at the same time.

I guess I'm just HOPING that Reyes breaks out.  We need a strong line.

Also, both players are in their third year in the NFL, so they should feel 100% comfortable with the preparation process, the playbook, etc, and they can now just go out there and PLAY FOOTBALL, without over thinking.

Re: Breakout Players

Of all the players most maligned on the Chargers I think Wright is poised to make a big step up.  I think he could very well surprise people.

I believe Steve Williams will be the stealth breakout player this year.  He's been overlooked by the media and even his own FO, but not his coaches.  It's why he's getting the majority of the first unit snaps at LCB.at this point.

The only thing holding Green back at this point, is (ironically) Antonio Gates.  As long as he's healthy it's hard to imagine what Green could be.

My big 3 poised to burst onto the scene...

TE Ladarius Green
OLB Melvin Ingram
ILB Donald Butler (it's time for him to have a healthy season and make the Pro Bowl)

Re: Breakout Players

Actually I hope Teo has a breakout year.  They need better play from him.  I would be happy with just solid play from him.  Last year he clearly was overwhelmed at times.  BTW I'm not the only one saying that either.  Even some in the media have said so.

He got a pass last year because he was a rookie and hurt.  No excuses now.  I hope he can deliver a solid season because that soft middle against the run had a lot to do with bad play at ILB and I'm not talking Butler.  So you bet I'm hoping he can step up.  If not then he needs to step aside and they desperately need someone who will.

Well I hope the Vet fixed him up because I Think Verrett is where he will be called to duty. LOL

HA! Every Spring the flowers bloom, the days grow longer.....and Yantha's love of Tutu just gets stronger!

I hope you're right. He's come through whenever his numbers been called. He deserves more of an opportunity and with this current receiving corp I hope he gets his shot.

Re: Breakout Players

I'll go with Vincent Brown. He's showed flashes when healthy. He played the entire season, but something wasn't right. Hope he's right and able to have a sold season.

Re: Breakout Players

I like Brelan Chancellor as the black horse to replace Royal next year as a return specialist and slot receiver.

Royal will have to take a big discount to stay here.

I can see Torrence Allen making the PS and perhaps contending for that slot position as well next year.

Re: Breakout Players

I know it's just the end of OTA's for what they're worth, but Brown and Seji are looking Good, even in Practice you can tell if guys are running the right routes, have their heads on straight, have that desire, ya know?
