Keenan Allen or John Jefferson?

Keenan Allen or John Jefferson?

If you had to build an offense and you had to pick between them which would you pick and why? JJ was the LAST athlete I got attached to as a kid and I literally cried when he was traded (yeah, I did). Personally I think they are two different types of receivers. JJ was a true number one receiver and I see Allen more as a slot receiver in the future.

Still the biggest Charger fan in the ATL

Allen has more physicality than JJ ever had. But if you want circus catches then JJ is your man. I also like Allen's ability to run after the catch more than what I recall from JJ. I loved JJ too but Allen seems to have Hall of fame written all over him due to his physicality combined with his smoothness...a trait he shares with JJ.

I would almost compare Keenan to more of a Wes Chandler, not the biggest of receivers but very smooth, crafty and great YAC.

Allen is still a kid, really.  Plus, everything he is doing right now is on mostly pure athletic ability.  Just wait until the Bolts mature him physically, and he becomes a fully developed man.  Add to that all he will eventually learn about how to succeed on every pattern, and in every situation, at this level, once he has experienced them all enough times.  I know JJ had a great rookie year, too, but I think Allen's potential is significantly greater.

But we shall see...

The first day of camp, back whenever, Fouts reportedly asked no one in particular..."Who is #83?"(JJ)

He was that good, from day one.

Allen seems to be exceptional, but Jefferson had more time to amaze. Lets give Allen another year or so before answering the question.

I honestly believe if JJ had stayed in SD, he would be a hall of famer today.

I almost replied to Tre's thread shortly after he put it up. Kneejerk reactions are never a good idea for me. After letting it percolate for a few days and as a Charger fan who was lured in by Dan the Man and Air Coryell, JJ being traded tore me up. But I was quickly rewarded with Wes. Having the best TE in the game didn't hurt any either.
As to the question, I'll agree that it is just too early to tell. But Allen will own the records when the season is done.
