Chargers @ Washington

Chargers @ Washington

I really thought the Redsk...I mean, Washington, would hold on to a victory against the Donks. Sigh. So, can our guys travel to DC (another trip???????) and pull out a win against a generally improving team/QB?

Pessimistic me:
- Traveling East
- Not a great history defending a mobile QB (is he still?)
- History of bye week blasé (though that was under the old regime)
- Washington is the 5th highest YPG NFC team on offense
- Even after two shut down games by our defense, we still rank poorly in YPG and PPG
- Washington's D has 10 INTs and 8 FFs
- The Raider game anomaly still eats at me (how could we be so blah on the road?)

Optimistic me:
- Washington's defense is ranked dead last in points allowed. excited
- Chargers ranked 3rd in AFC offensive YPG
- Chargers tied with Denver for the LEAST # of sacks given up! Wait, what?
- Washington is 2 - 5
- Chargers doing well so far against the NFC East
- We did have a BYE week to rest and prepare

I'll withhold my prediction to gather more facts. As of now, I'm 50/50. You?

PS Did you realize that the Chargers are around 4th in points scored with an average of 24 PPG? However (and this sickens me) the Broncos LEAD the league with an average of....drum roll....

...42 POINTS PER GAME!

Wow.

Since RG3 is not 100% I think I like the Chargers chances.  Yes they did play Denver tough on the road, but the Washington players took some licks in that game.

I'll say...
San Diego 27
Washington 17

As you said in your post: "Under the previous regime" we always came out flat and laid an egg after the bye.  I hope things have changed enough with the culture to prevent that from happening again.  Unfortunately, I think the NFC East gets off the snide against the AFC West and finally posts a win.  I just think the travel east finally catches up with our offense and they come out flat and stay flat until it is too late in the game.

Re: Chargers @ Washington

As I said after the first 4 games, I'm done predicting anything this season.  I'll just say that it always happens in this league that a team that has the talent to be good, but has made too many mistakes that cost them most of their games, at some point puts it all together in a game and trounces their opponent.  The Skins are exactly that kind of team this year.

So my hope is that they don't put it all together this week.  But we shall see...

Well I am making the trip from Raleigh up to D.C. to see the game live.  The Chargers better play their fannies off and win the game.  I have an undefeated streak to consider so don't mess it up Bolts.

Looking to go 2-0 in Charger games I have been to.biggrinwinktongue

The first game I watched live was a Bolts v Skins game at the Q, it was also LT's very first game!! Anyway, I am worried about this game too, we have not done so well after the bye the last few years and the Skins are a dangerous team. We're only half way through this season but there are already lot of what ifs, this game is one of those we must win to stay in the playoff hunt. Im expecting a close win but won't be surprised to hear we lost.

Bolts 23
Skins 13

RG3 needs a bounce back game. The NFL needs him to. We will be the whipping boy. Expect him and their RB to have big games rushing.

Skins 31
Chargers 17

A hurt RGIII does this count as a win for you if you win? People here said a hurt Rome not a win.

Re: Chargers @ Washington

Chargers need to just keep it down the middle and they will win. Redskins secondary is atrocious. Rivers can light them up all day. Just need a couple big stops on defense and once again take time off the clock with a few big drives, which has been the Chargers bread and butter and the secret to their somewhat success so far.

Agreed! That and get pressure on RG III...much like Denver did last Sunday. Hit him and keep knocking him on his backside!!

I like the bolts for this game with the bye week to get healthy.   Don't tell Honk I am picking them.

Pickin' the Skins....so balancing it out. It's been working well for so long no need to stop now.wink

Long distance again for our Chargers. This isn't the Jags and it's got me worried some. Guessing the best point of the game is I believe the Skins are actually worse off in the 2ndary than we are(maybe).pirate

Re: Chargers @ Washington

I think that the Chargers offence is going to have a big day against this Washington D.

The question is whether Washington's offence can outscore ours?  Our D is definitely our weakness, but I do think that Washington's is even worse.

In the end:

Chargers 34
Redskins 24

Skins have looked bad and the Chargers seem to finally be rolling so I gotta go with the Bolts

I saw that too. Or maybe it was the altitude? Either way, I think we can wear out their defense pretty easily. I'll go with 33-14, Chargers.

Where I grew up, everyone was either a 'Skins fan or a Falcon fan. My best friend on the planet still a huge Washington fan. My turn now. Bolts 27 - 13.

I think Butler will miss this game as well. Could Royal also be out? disbelief
