It's Raider week! Part Deux

This is something I miss about Marty. He understood the depth of hateful passion a team needs to accrue in the week leading up to the Raider game.

Well, this is that week.

Charger 35
Raiders 17

RE: It's Raider week!

I have a lunch riding on this as usual with my co-worker who a die hard Faider fan.

Just read that both McFadden & Reece were injured today. Hammy for McFadden & knee for Reece.

Hoping we can get some guys back on the field. Freeney may be out a bout a month or so with that quad injury. Make sure he's 100% before it gets worse.

Love how we're in every game competing. We could easily be 4-0 or 1-3 right now. Tough to swallow losses ugh

NO MORE INJURIES plz

Always have friendly wagers with my students.  One owes me 50 pushups tomorrow for the big win today.

Raider week is big here in Central Cali.  Many physical wagers will be placed this week.  GO BOLTS!! biggrin

I miss Marty also. Norv made me miss him even more. Sad that the whole reason he left was over AJ and the fact that Marty wanted his son hired. I don't know this as fact but how it came across to me back then. I also believe they butted heads over AJ's handling of Chargers studs. I would lay all my $ in the world that even Jr. Seau would have been released or such if it wasn't for the fact he was a Fan mainstay. Spanos sadly picked AJ over Marty.

Prediction on score seems right. But being a Div. game I can see it being slightly closer. Hopefully the Chargers go in with this momentum they have and spank Da Raiders by much more. Time to make a Div. statement!pirate

One more thing I hate about the Raiders is that they still play in the dilapidated Oakland Coliseum and share it with the Oakland A's.

Because the A's are good, they're still playing baseball in October. In fact, the A's play this weekend there. Because it takes about 24 hours to change over the field, our game could be played at either 4 p.m. ET or 11:30 p.m. ET (depending on the start time of the prior A's game).

Sucky field. Sucky team. Sucky start times on the road.

I hate the Raiders.

Flynn didn't play well for the Raiders on Sunday (according to Raider coach Dennis Allen).

Will Pryor be ready (probably)? Can our Charger D do well against another mobile QB (jury's out)?

Time to man-up in our division. We have to beat the lowly Raiders because looking at KC and Denver it's going to be tough to get those four wins.

Hardwick knows it's Raider Week!

Chargers-Raiders game moved to night

This weekend's game between the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders has been moved to a night game because of the baseball playoffs. Read More...

The unusual start time should benefit the more mature, better prepared team. Advantage: Chargers.

Re: It's Raider week!

Don't care how bad dah raidahz look, they are a division rival and so by no means will the silver and black just roll over.

Then again rivers is on fire. But in all honesty I somehow get this funny feeling that this game is going to be much closer than many of us think.

I'm going 28-13. SD.

Especially because w/o freeney vs a mobile QB in TP, I think the Bolts will find it a little harder to get off the field on 3rd down.
It's not about how many times you get knocked down.  It's whether or not you are willing to get back up.

I know what you're all going to think, but I just don't see it this time.  Sorry, but it's been hot one week, cold the next (as far as the end results have gone).  Time for another cold one, unfortunately.  Raiders, 27 - 20.

Re: It's Raider week!

Well old friends it's that time again this year for our first meeting. I usually keep an eye on your board through the season and post each time we meet and occasionally here and there.

Sunday was ugly, let me re-phrase that, Sunday was one of the worst football games I've ever watched as a Raiders fan and as we all know there have been plenty to choose from the last decade plus.

Let's just say that there isn't a Raiders fan on the planet that ever wants to see Matt Flynn wear the Silver and Black let alone pretend to be a qb again. Hopefully that's over forever.

I expect TP to play this Sunday and be his usual inexperienced self, a good thing for the Chargers, bad for us of course. I'm not sold on the kid as the long term answer but he's the best chance for our team to win this season hands down. He played well against the Colts and mistakes he made cost us the game in the final minutes.

I think the Chargers will have an easy time with our patchwork O line, they have played as best they could but they just are not that good without the starters, TP makes it easier for them since he's usually always on the move.

I like the way the D is playing(a big concern going into the season) they have been strong against the run and decent enough against the pass. Considering we have 9 new starters, I think they have done okay.

I must say that so far I'm impressed with Rivers at times but seeing the same old things at others. It's odd because as much as I hate the guy, no one should have to suffer under Norv in their prime years. I like what McCoy has done so far, but question at times where his head is with some of his decisions(I always watch a lot of division games every season)

I think that as hot as Rivers has been, he's due to cool off some. I do expect a close game but think in the end TP proves to be a little too much for your D as I'm not crazy about your secondary at all and see it as a weakness.

Sorry if the write up is a little long but I always love this chance to talk football with a heated division rival when we are meeting up on a Sunday. I've always enjoyed the many conversations I've had here and it's nice to get perspective from the "other" side throughout the year.

Looking forward to some back and forth before this game.

Re: It's Raider week!

EC, I think both are lines are "patchwork"... We had 3  backups starting last week & benched one of them by halftime. Rivers managed to make his proper reads quickly & got rid of the ball fast. Hope to get healthy on our end soon. Lost Floyd & Freeney for the season. 2 vets that our team needed around.

Pryor is a handful with his ability to run. I liked that he was in there mixing it up with the Skins in street clothes haha. Not smart, but shows he's got his teams back even if he's not playing.

It'll be the normal physical this Sunday night. Will have like a Monday night football feel to it. Hope for a competitive game with no serious injuries for both teams.

I hope both sides come out injury free as well, looks like both teams can ill afford to lose anymore starters. Who is up next on the depth chart after Floyd? Meecham is gone right?

@PFF: Peyton Manning and Phillip Rivers both have a perfect 158.3 QB Rating when using play action.

Re: It's Raider week!

Today's injury status:

The King, Rinehart and Clary all missed practice again, and this time were joined by Orhnberger.  Hardwick was limited (although he is not injured), meaning that only the rookie Fluker participated in the entire practice today among the offensive line starters.  If this trend continues (with backups now getting hurt), it's going to eventually be The Lollipop Guild lining up in front of Rivers.

Patrick also missed practice, but Wright returned for a partial practice, Cox and Te'o participated in the entire practice, and Butler is no longer even listed on the injury report.

So some good news here (but along with the Freeney and Floyd moves this week, not much).

Re: It's Raider week!

The starters have been V. Brown & Royal. Last week coach McCoy started our 3rd rd pick Keenan Allen. This guy is going to be really good. Has good height, good hands & ultra smooth. He so fluid running his routes. He & Rivers are starting to click. You could see it last week with a perfectly thrown & ran back shoulder throw. Rivers threw it before Allen looked back & he broke it off just right. Look for #13 this week to make an impact.

I can only imagine if Rivers has Alexander & Floyd to throw to at 6'5" each guy with hops. He would have 500 yard games & we would probably be 4-0 right now. NOT KIDDING!! Behind the guys I mentioned we have #16 Seyi Ajirotutu who's not playing at all really which surprises some of us. The when just signed #10 Hawkins, who will be our primary kick returner. Hope he can make an impact.

Gates is still a very sold TE. We have another TE Ladarius Green who is slowly making his mark. He was a stud in preseason, but has not been involved very much this yr... YET!! He's running routes & blocking, just not getting his number called. He'll make his presence known at some point this year.

What about you guys at RBif McFadden can't go? Jennings or Jones? How's Reece doing? He's a football player btw..
