Re: First official depth chart

I'm very interested in seeing Cattouse.  His name has been mentioned several times in camp reports so far, and this first chart backs that up.  I admit that he was NOT a name that even flashed across my mind all offseason, much less spent any time within a thought in it.

2nd this. Sounded like Smith was running with 2's all this time.

Hope We can keep 7 at WR while cutting Meachem. Keep Willie & DePalma. If not, they'll be snagged by another team & probably play well & not get injured on top of that.

Here's the one from the official site http://www.chargers.com/team/depth-chart.html

Im surprised they have Addae listed at FS and not SS. Ive been hearing lots of good things about him but he was a SS in college.

We're going to be forced to keep Meachem this year.

I fully understand why due to his cap hit we'll be taking regardless... I just feel our WR have a history of getting injured in their careers so fad. Alexander, Floyd, VB, Royal, Meachem, Allen in college recently. Keeping Willie & DePalma could be a must with an eventual injury. JMHO

7 WRs is too much and nobody has seen Depalma play in a game yet. While we have seen Willie play last year in preseason and is worthy of a shot. I wouldn't be upset if they chose Willie over Meachem on the roster. Now depth at OLB, CB and Dline, even Oline are more pressing needs to keep extra players, IMO. I think we are good at WR. I believe Willie and Depalma will stick at the PS for another year.

I think Bird is primed for a breakout season, but I'm pleasantly surprised about Gachkar.  Hope he continues to improve.

RE: First official depth chart

DePalma Aims to do More than Stick Around

San Diego's most stacked position is wide receiver, a luxury for Coach Mike McCoy and a challenge for third-year pro Dan DePalma. We talk to the shifty wideout about his first training camp in So Cal, the differences between Philip Rivers and Eli Manning and his plans to make an impact for the Chargers. Read More...

DePalma is listed as fourth string on the initial depth chart, meaning he will have to climb at least one rung higher to have a shot at making the final 53-man roster. He has a year of practice-squad eligibility remaining, but as he makes clear in this interview, that's not his mindset right now.

Re: First official depth chart

Not really rye popping but there were a few interesting spots that caught my eye.

L Green sitting 3rd on the TE Depth chart.

Troutman I thought would be better suited at RG and Dumbo I honestly thought would be better suited as the backuo LG.

Like to see depalma and tasker stick around if anything on the PS.

I actually like the building blocks they have at LB. When Ingram returns that's 3 young high potential players you have there mixed that with Reyes and Liuget and if Thomas or Gaither are half the stud Jamal Williams was in his prime, boy do you have the potential for a very solid defensive group.

I'm not going to toot my own horn here just yet with the move of Clary to OG but if he ends becoming one of the better one's in the league. I'm pulling a Honk and posting a I told you so thread. Lol. From what I've heard he's actually looked very good as a RG and almost a natural fit from some others. But yet Hal had us all believe that Clary was better suited for RT? Hmmm.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.

I truly feel DePalma will be snagged by another team if he's not on our roster... Philly maybe? Willie has not played in any games either. Both guys have played in many preseason games. DePalma was singled out as helping the Giants CB win a Super Bowl playing the role of Wes Welker to the tee. He's due!

Re: First official depth chart

If not for one thing I would say that if DePalma is routinely running routes for the Bolts this year, then fans are going to have a whole lot more they'll be complaining about than just where he is on the depth chart.

But then I remember 2010.

So who knows?

I still say that the "story" of this depth chart, if there is one, is Cattouse.

Where is Walters now? DePalma is still fighting for his shot & has a ring for doing his job & playing a role. It's not even a debate DePlama is no Walters... Size wise & it ends there
