Tebow Has Risen! Now A Patriot!

Hot off the presses.....don't need a link, news is everywhere.

Tebow is a Patriot. I guess Belicheat did have a soft spot for him after all.

How will he be used? Should Brady worry? tongue

Wow, based on all those previous posts....that Belichick guy most be a total idiot. Didn't he read all of the posts from our resident Tebow-hating experts? haha.

Seriously though, the only real surprise is the timing. New England was the most likely landing spot from the beginning. But just as I was saying before....he needed to land on a team with a top QB entrenched in the starting position. With Brady #1 and Mallet at #2, he now has an opportunity to quietly develop......and the only way you'll hear anyone calling for him to start, will be if Brady goes down and Mallet struggles. On the flip side.....if anyone is going to convince Tebow to change positions, it would probably be Belichick who loves to use multi-purpose guys.

May have been Belichek's motive all along.

This thread should be renamed...Tebow a Patriot, for now.

There is no guarantee that he makes the roster. I have a feeling Tebow may have called in a favor to McDouche for this opportunity.

Well Gronk is out,  Welker is gone and we have Woodhead.  I guess they brought in Tebow because they think they don't have a prayer.

Gronk will be back....they have Hernandez. They signed a guy who is probably better than Welker, just not as durable in Amendola. They still have a lot of weapons most notably Brady who just keeps getting better.

I think Tebow will be used as a half back or even possibly a tight end. And you know he'll be in on some trick plays or options here or there. I think he does well for the Pats. I even said earlier that I thought the Pats would sign him. I guess I was right.

Got to hand it to Belichek.   Nobody thought this guy had a prayer of playing another down in the NFL but now wham.  Here he is on a playoff contender.  Why?    A thought ,... the Pats are a formidable scoring machine getting out to big leads that are sometimes insurmountable.   Well maybe this is where Tebow can contribute.

With the lead Tebow could become the proverbial sacrifitial lamb of the third and fourth quarters.   A closer.    The lead has been established the defense is playing well , no need to risk Tom Terrific .  It isn't a passer but time killing running threat that the Pat's want to assemble into their arsenal.     Could be very frustrating for the defense to have to tackle and chase Tebow when it would be so much easier to find Brady and hit him sitting in the pocket where he is supposed to be.

This is exactly the kind of move Belichek is known for,, risky, unconventional, but well thought out .

.....or he gets cut.

People were saying the same exact thing when he went to NYJ, he'd be a good change up for Sanchez, they'd use him in special packages, "he's a winner."   Bottom line is he couldn't beat out McElroy for the BACKUP job and despite playing for a team with no offensive weapons he couldn't get on the field in a H-back or TE capacity either.

Actually, its not even that risky...2 yrs, NO GUARANTEED MONEY....and the money he is earning is probably in the hundreds of thousands, not millions.

I actually saw this as entirely political move...In one cheap signing, a big, "F- You!" to both the Broncos and Patriots.

Have trouble seeing the even make the roster however...everything we have heard says he doesn't want to switch positions.

I assume you mean Broncos and Jets.  And I'm sure Bellichick is just sitting in his study with his hands folded thinking..."mwahaha now what can I do to irk the Denver Broncos, yes I know, I shall sign a failed QB they replaced with a Hall of Famer."eek1

What a dumb comment.

That brings up a possibility.   As divisional rivals Tebow could make a play to help beat the Jets.  That might not play well in NY and could make Rex Ryan look a bit foolish.   I like the thought of that.
