Superbowl Gameday Thread

I HONESTLY THINK THAT IF WE PLAYED LIKE THE WAY WE PUNCHED THE RAVENS IN THE MOUTH LAST YEAR AND THIS YOUNG DEFENSE THAT EMERGED THIS YEAR WE SHOULDVE BEEN HERE TODAY

Yes, having the players helps. Obviously. But notice the GUTS of these coaches. This is what I love to see. I HATE turtling up. I hate conservative game plans (consistently). I like to see these kinds of plays and, to me, it seems we see Super Bowl coaches have the guts to make them.

Interesting. The commentators just said that the 49ers had brought in Kaeding for a tryout because of Akers troubles. Harbaugh decided to stick with Akers. But to think we could have been watching Kaeding attempting field goals in the Super Bowl.

What a game.  Can't help thinking if Rivers has what it takes to be in big game.  He can't roll or throw on the run.  Really limits the offensive playbook and the defense has a big advantage.  Mike McCoy has some really challenges ahead of him.  If he sees a QB he likes, he has to pull the trigger.

Chargers should find a shifty quick running back who can run the pistol. Get a package of plays for him and use him in the redzone and in special instances during the season.

RE: Superbowl Gameday Thread

The only thing I have to say about this game is...when you combine both teams rosters, only 2 starters went on IR this year. Jameel McClain and LaDarius Webb. Some other decent players missed minor time, but nothing serious.

The Chargers alone had 6 of their 22 opening day starters end up on IR, plus two big rotation players in Barnes and Brown. Brown probably would have been a starter on opening day if he hadn't gotten injured in pre-season.

Thats how you get to the Super Bowl, be healthy.

I amend it was only 6...I was counting Brown as a starter, but he got injured in pre-season, but for all intents and purposes it was 7.

How much was Chao and how much was Norv and his "soft" practices?

I have heard from multiple multiple people and sources that Norv was about as soft an NFL coach as it comes to putting a premium on training and keeping in shape. Jim Harbaugh works out with his team. That makes a huge difference, it really does. And it might explain a few seasons where the team didn't start strong out of the gate.

Injuries are all about strength, conditioning, proper medical care and last but no least Luck!  You can try to mitigate everything else but the luck part.  The way you try to over come the bad luck part is with a GM that gives you depth of players.  I think the Bolts have had a combination of all of the above with the exception of a depth of good players.

I think Norvs exit interviews say all you need to know about him... he doesn't handle adversity well. Even the slightest injury on offense would set our offense in a tail spin because he calls played based on the talent he wished we had, not the talent on the field.

I'd say Chao is 4th or 5th on the list in the blame game. He should be fired more for the stuff outside of work and his questionable ethics.

regardless if not for the BS spot on 4th  & 29 Norv wouldve had two straight WINs over the new Superbowl Champs

Tom Coughlin doesnt workout with his team yet has 2 rings...

Winning in the regular season against a particular team and then in the playoffs and Super Bowl against the same team are two totally different scenarios for many obvious reasons.

And just for the record....So you are saying Norv didn't run soft camps and practices? Correct?

And you are saying that because I used Harbaugh as an example of a head coach who puts an emphasis on conditioning, and even works out with his team, and Tom Coughlin doesn't, which probably most coaches don't, that Coughlin isn't a hard nosed coach?

What the heck are you saying? Do you just pound your keyboard with your mongoloid fists and pray it makes some type of sense? Geez...please!

True....but we have always played the Ravens well and Rivers has always had success against them

And just for the record....So you are saying Norv didn't run soft camps and practices? Correct?

i can see no record of me ever saying that

Again i see no record of me ever saying that....ever
You made a point that Jim trains with his team and it makes a difference, but training with a team doesnt guarantee success

What the heck are you saying? Do you just pound your keyboard with your mongoloid fists and pray it makes some type of sense? Geez...please!

Maybe you should just read what i am posting and try to not put words in my mouth...
