Dan Marino Known For His Quick Release
And now we know why.... www.usatoday.com/story/gameon/...r-bowl/1879683/
Look, there is probably a thousand and one jokes that could be made about this situation, like being the Isotoner spokesman....and not knowing the number one rule "no glove, no love"....or "Cromarino" or "he truly was never married cause he didn't get a "ring".... So look, I think it's safe to say, we all need to be sensitive about this story, so please, by all means.....best joke wins two months free subscription to the SD Bolt Report Insider. Now, I am not in any position to give this away, but hey, "let's see what happens"...just like Dan told his intern.

Re: Dan Marino Known For His Quick Release
I was a huge fan of his back in the day. Still think he was one of the best ever. Just imagine what he could have done with a running game and an owner who would pay for a free agent or two. But this story is interesting because Marino kept it quiet for so many years. He should have come out and been honest years ago. He also has made interesting judgements about so many other athletes lives....kind of pushes it back in his face. With that said...I thought I would get at least one joke or two. I know my boy Blue would have gotten dirty.

Always been amazed how Don Shula got a pass for never building Marino a defense.

Always been amazed how Don Shula got a pass for never building Marino a defense. It was never Don Shula's fault. The owner was a real cheap SOB...I lived in Miami as a kid and went to all their home games. Everyone knew Shula did the best with what he was given. If you look back, all of Shula's teams played hard and were always good. He never, ever had a bad team. That says alot about him. Shula was a no non-sense type of coach. If a player made an absolute bonehead mistake, he would grab them when they got off the field by the face mask and bench them for either a half or full game. Dude was good and he was tough.

That was one he wished he had back as soon as he released it.

RE: Dan Marino Known For His Quick Release
I'm not very good with these types of things....
but I heard there's a new Jim Carey movie coming out where Ace Ventura searches for Dan Marino's illegitimate children.
I'm sure there's a Hootie and the Blowfish joke SOMEWHERE in there too. I just can't think of one. >.>

Re: Dan Marino Known For His Quick Release
When asked what he was thinking at the time, Marino said,
"At the time I had hoped to dupe 'er, but she didn't fall for it when I told her my first name was Clayton. She was no easy mark, that's for sure."
--- "I've never been around a 24-year-old 12-year vet."

RE: Dan Marino Known For His Quick Release
well done 88 =P I was trying to think of a way to bring the Mark Brothers into it earlier, but again I didn't have any luck.

Cheap or not, who did Shula draft for the defense? Marino made everybody on offense better. Where was the defense? They couldn't stop anybody throughout Marino's career.

Re: Dan Marino Known For His Quick Release
Do you remember the killer B's? He made the most with what he had. He found Marino, he built a solid offensive line. He also found the Mark Brothers....His percentage was pretty high on drafting starters. His problem was free agency. Bottom line....He had an owner who was cheap and wouldn't spend money on free agents and Shula was a very tough, straight edge coach....the generation of free agency and players changed the game, something he wasn't able to work with like other younger coaches. No matter what though, he always got a lot out of what he worked with. Under Shula, every season, the teams played hard, had attention for detail, and always had good seasons.
