Would prefer Carmichael but this is a good thing still. Excitement building. Fix our line!!!!!!!

Wow, cool. I don't know a lot about Whisenhunt's play-calling ability, but he is a big name to hire. I'm excited about the hires thus far. Now if only they will make the right decisions with the roster.

Re: Per ESPN: Ken Whisenhunt new Charger's OC
I love this hire! Now we have a GM who has experienced the entire process of building a championship team during his time in the Colts front office, a flexible HC with a clear plan and recent experience as a OC for a playoff caliber team, and an OC that has fully experienced the road to the super bowl. I like what Ken did with the AZ offense when he had a field Marshall runnin the show in Warner. His experience of success as a HC during that super bowl run will do wonders for the chargers when they make their next playoff run. Can't wait for the draft/ FA!!
1st round - Chance Warmack (G) 2nd round - Best OT available 3rd round - Best CB available 4th round - the next Sproles :)
With a stud G to replace green and a serviceable LT our run game would improve drastically, allowing rivers to take advantage of a stacked box.

Re: Per ESPN: Ken Whisenhunt new Charger's OC
A big part of this is that Whisenhunt actually be calling plays.
I believe (nearly) all of us agree that we don't want our HC wearing the hat of OC again.
Whisenhunt has had SB appearances with two QBs -- one somewhat mobile, but slow (Big Ben) and one very immobile (Warner).
And his teams have run the hurry up.
I like it.

I couldn't be happier with this hire. SD is back on track IMO. I am starting to get excited again. It's been a while!

Re: Per ESPN: Ken Whisenhunt new Charger's OC
We fire our HC and he gets hired as an OC.
The Cardinals fire their HC and he becomes our OC.
I'm not sure what to think. Ken only has 2 years of experience as an OC, but he's got my support. I look forward to seeing the presser. Maybe that will give me some enthusiasm for the hire.

Re: Per ESPN: Ken Whisenhunt new Charger's OC
Now that this page is written, who is our new special teams coach going to be. KC supposedly has taken my front runner in Toub to be their special teams coach. I must say that this off-season is from a far looking as if it is a fairly nice one. Let's keep this rolling guys. I'm liking the way this is all shaping out to for the Bolts. Let's keep the positive vibes a goin'.

I gotta' say, if I read the news that we have managed to retain Pagano, I will be extremely happy with the offseason thus far. The leadership of this team has gotten exponentially younger and, hopefully, more energetic. Need to lock up Pagano and get the special teams settled.

Re: Per ESPN: Ken Whisenhunt new Charger's OC
Very good hire. I honestly was not even thinking about Whis for this position. While I still would have loved to have had Cable and his expertise to rebuild and TEACH a new offensive line, Whis knows his stuff, too. And here's another potential benefit. Does McCoy now bring in Whis's long time assistant Russ Grimm as the new offensive line coach? Once again, while I preferred Cable, if they got Grimm for that position it would be a high level get. We'll see, but I don't want Hal Hunter anywhere near this team's offensive line anymore. And dare I hope for the virtually impossible? Could Fitz somehow work a trade of himself to his former coach's new team ?

For the first time in a very long time it appears that we are solid in the Management and Coaching areas. The only missing piece now is quality players. Half way there, baby!

RE: Per ESPN: Ken Whisenhunt new Charger's OC
so stoked on this... as a longtime steeler fan, i wasnt big on the possible hire of arians as our hc... and was way higher on whisenhunt as the oc during their stints in pittsburgh. now if somehow russ grimm would come in as our o-line coach, i cant think of a better way things could unfold!
i do crossword puzzles in pen because im just that confident

RE: Per ESPN: Ken Whisenhunt new Charger's OC
Very happy with this hire!!! I thought I had read somewhere that he was the OC in Pittsburgh for 4 years when Big Ben came in. Either way, glad to have him on board!!! Now lets see how they all draft & sign FA's!!

Re: Per ESPN: Ken Whisenhunt new Charger's OC
Then the Cards hire Arians as their HC: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000127848/art icle/bruce-arians-hired-as-arizona-cardinals-head- coach So to sum up, the Chargers fire their HC, Norv, who gets hired as the Browns OC for a HC that used to be his AC. The Chargers, looking for a HC, interview Wisenhunt, Arians, McCoy and others and they hire McCoy as HC. The Cardinals, who fired Wisenhunt, then hire Arians from the Colts to be their HC. Meanwhile, the Chargers hire Wisenhunt to be their OC. Oh, did I mention that those same Colts hired Charger GM runner-up to fill the position that the now current Charger GM had prior? PS Arians was the QB coach when Wisenhunt was the OC. Coaching trees feel incestuous at times. chargers4life wrote: We fire our HC and he gets hired as an OC.
