For all you draft pick doom and gloomers

For all you draft pick doom and gloomers

St. Louis, Philly, Cleveland, Carolina, the Jets, and Philly all won today.  In other words, our draft pick is almost exactly where it was before we won today.  Stick to your Fantasy Football leagues and Madden games if you play for the draft versus winning games.

This is lucky news no doubt about that.

But had we lost we'd have been set up for a top 5 pick...probably 4th overall.

What did we gain today SoCal? What helped the franchise by winning? By March everyone will have forgotten today anyway.....and the fans arguing that we should draft a franchise LT will rue the fact that we're still behind the Eagles in draft position. So I ask what was gained?

So, in other words, we missed an opportunity to move up in the draft.

Again, happy to see us win, but this season is over and I'm looking forward to April.

RE: For all you draft pick doom and gloomers

What makes you so sure Philly drafts a LT when they have the best one in football and you don't draft a RT in the top 5?  Not to mention their RT is better than any O-lineman we have.

For us true fans, we gained something to be happy about and a great glimpse of our future on defense and a reminder of what PR can look like when given time in the pocket.  It will be nice to see a week without seeing "What could we get for PR threads" for a change.

The Draft is in April in the middle of a long offseason.  There will be plenty of time to play the who can fall to us game then.

Great!  Why don't you come back in April then.

How about you quit telling me what to do. I've been a Chargers fan since the early 70's. I want what is best for the Chargers, which is quality draft picks. I don't appreciate your questioning my Chargers fan status!

Draft order does not just affect where we pick in the 1st round. It affects where we pick in every round.

LOL "true fans" I never get tired of that bullshit phrase.

You can be a true fan SoCal, I'll have to settle with being a smart one....you know...that was born and raised in San Diego who went to his first game when he was 5 and hardly owns an article of non-work clothing that is not Charger colors or Charger related.

Then stop posting idiotic statements like, it would've been better for us to lose.  Loser mentality any way you slice it.

Think you actually missed the boat on that one.  Why don't you go ahead and answer my question of why Philly would go LT in Round 1 when they already have one of the best in football?  Don't worry, I'll wait.

There is no guarantees, but you're banking on luck, I'd like to know that our franchise LT is in the bag.

Jason Peters has been on IR the last 2 years though, so you're betting on a long shot that they won't at least draft his future replacement.

Okay, then why would it be luck that Philly would take an OT in the 1st when they have an All Pro on one side and a solid one on the right side?  Still waiting.  For a self-proclaimed smart poster, you sure do need the same question asked to you several times before a straight answer is given.  You'll forgive me if I doubt your own impression of yourself.

So they are going to spend a Top 5 pick on a backup?  Awww, that makes sense.

RE: For all you draft pick doom and gloomers

I dont care what game they are playing I want them to win.  I never want the team to lose just to get a better draft spot.  I am encouraged by how the defense is playing and hope they run the table to win out. If our step in Oline can protect Rivers and we get Butler back we can win out which would be a shame that we blew so many games.  Oakland has had  top ten picks that last 7 years ( not including the no pick trade)  and have missed on every one.  We just need to get a new GM who can pick a winner if is the 6th pick or the 15 pick it just has to be an impact player.

How does winning games help the franchise now that we are eliminated from playoff contention?

It's time to give Whitehurst some playing experience.

No I'm saying at a minimum they have to consider releasing him and salvaging some cap space for 2014...same as we will consider with Gaither.

By the way the Cardinals who have a HORRENDOUS O-LINE are 4-8 and losing right now.
The Lions who might lose Backus to retirement are 4-8 and play GB tonight.

So...yeah...not helping.

RE: For all you draft pick doom and gloomers

How dare you inject common sense into this thread.  I thought the subject was clearly addressed to the draft pick doom and gloomers biggrin

New England not drafting in the Top 10 every year sure hasn't seem to lose much of a beat.
Same with Baltimore, Pittsburgh, the Giants, and the Saints.

On the flip side, teams like you mentioned Oakland along with Cleveland, St. Louis, and Buffalo are constantly picking in the Top 10.

The only argument of recent memory that one could make a case that it would've been better for a team to lose would be Minnesota last year so that they could get the draft haul that St. Louis ended up getting for RG3.

I would happily have us draft like Houston did for so many years with a 7-9 and 8-8 record as they always seemed to take players I wanted us to grab in Watt and Cushing.

Great, if they release him, hopefully we'll sign him and then we could take Milner in Round 1 so that would be a double win on top of the win that we got today.

If the Eagles are solid at OT, why does nearly every mock have them taking an OT with their first pick?

Let me help you. Jason Peters has a torn Achilles and Demetress Bell has been a bust.

Better chance at 6 than at 15... especially when you're talking OTs.

The point remains the same, nothing gained today except a nice fuzzy feeling of winning...and in a few weeks that feeling will be gone.
