with change looming list your keepers and trash heap players

I think if Alexander keeps looking good and stays healthy we should keep him around for next season.I believe we should ship Spikes out and we should retain Phillips I know there are some haters out there who hate to hear this but the guy gets the job done.the o-line looks like crap so I have no clear keepers there and think we should start over with a new O-line coach.Everyone chime in and make a list of keepers and players you want on the trash heap.I want to start looking at some positives for this team so have at it.

If you just cut Clary and Cason you would have a very good start!

Wright looked pretty good when called upon after Jammers injury a tipped pass that was intercepted for a td and another that he could have scored on himself if he had been able to hold on.If Jammers able to play this weekend I would like to see Wright play in place of Cason to see if Wright can make plays on a weekly bases. If he can that would help us narrow down what we need in the draft/FA

There is no way they cut Meach and Royal. They just gave them 20mill combined guaranteed.

20 million guaranteed.

We got what?

Just another reason why AJ Smith needs to be jettisoned.

$20 million here.....how many top draft picks suck....how many wasted trades for fullbacks who become glorified special team players....a running back who can't stay healthy, be productive, or hold on to the ball.....a head coach who can't coach himself out of a wet paper bag....and signing his non-mobile QB to almost $100 million contract and then never surrounding him with an offensive line.

Malfunction! Major Malfunction! Dean needs to clean up this f'ng mess, bring in a "real" GM, and then have them evaluate everybody. Cut the parts that don't stick, regardless of money owed, and move on.

Dean keeps thinking he's saving money by letting players and coaches fulfill their contracts, little does he know, he's eroding his fan base and season tickets holders, and ultimately stepping over the nickels to pick up the pennies. Time for a serious Charger intervention at Dean's house!

Meanwhile...

VJ - on pace for 1300 yards and 11 TD's - but we didnt need that guy.

Where did all the apologists go? And they call us fake fans. eek1

enough with the baiting man, its become old, we get your point. There are plenty of people who have been asking things here for years that have been proven correct but you dont hear them bleating about it in every post.

This board is becoming painful enough without it turning into another us v them fued for the next 9 months

Were you saying this to the apologists when they spewed their venom and vitrol at the realists for being concerned?

Take a chill pill.

Also, I personally would let go of Weddle. We dont need a 8mill a year FS when we are not making the playoffs. We can stick anyone back there and still go 8-8/9-7. We have other needs.

Couldn't disagree more.  Weddle is one of the few we need to retain to help build a team around.  The defense has been the lone bright spot for the team.  You can't jettison the good players and expect to get better.  If we can add another solid ILB & Corner, this would be a great def.

The focus needs to be on the Oline period.  Clary, Harris, Green, not getting the job done.  Vasquez, Hardwick merely serviceable.  Gaither injury waiting to happen.

Keep the good, replace the bad.

Why, it was said we didnt need a #1 WR because the team finished 8-8 with him on the team. I dont see why a FS would be more important if a game changer is not?

are you taking the piss or what?? Seriously, this is a joke right? You bang on about people a mistake letting VJ go and then you suggest letting our only Pro Bowler on Defense go? I have to assume that this is a gee-up designed to bait people into an argument so i'll leave you to your fun........

Was it a bait to say we didnt need our #1 receiver because we still finished 8-8 with him on the team?

Same concept no? - If you dont need a #1 WR, why do you need a 8mill/year FS? - He isnt winning games on his own is he? - In fact he played pretty bad against Denver.

I'd rather we dumped him to save money on his contract, got a decent FS that we will see very little drop off from and put that money into our OL and pass rush.

Re: with change looming list your keepers and trash heap players

Weddle singlehandedly has won games...matter of fact he is one of the reasons why we only lost by seven....
I dont recall him ever making really boneheaded plays, stupid penalties, or having off field issues....
I havent seen him kick a flag, or spike a ball thats still in play, or anything like that.... I have, however, seen him one hand intercept Manning in a divisional playoff at the goal line, I have seen him intercept a Matt Cassel screen to end a game with a win for us.... I have seen him make game changing plays that directly contribute to either wins, or keeping a game close....

You go against your own mantra here, you cant say we should have kept an all pro wr, then say we should get rid of an all pro safety.....

You think the ravens or steelers defenses would be as good as they are without Reed and Troy? The Steelers defense isnt the same without Clark in at safety, and he is nowhere near as good as Troy, or Weddle for that matter....

Our offense, however, has been just as good and productive, without VJ in the lineup...

I just dont see why your beating this into a pulp.....

No, simply stating facts....
Same concept no? - If you dont need a #1 WR, why do you need a 8mill/year FS? - He isnt winning games on his own is he? - In fact he played pretty bad against Denver.
Yes, as a matter of fact, he has.....

little drop off from what? an all pro safety that he would be replacing? I think a better option would have been to draft a RT/LT instead of English, put the money you would have spent on Clary into keeping VJ and Sproles.... I would rather have a great defense, or the chance of being great, then have one WR who is " our only playmaker".......The Ravens won a SB with that formula, I dont believe anyone has one a SB with a below average defense, no OL, and 1 great reciever.....
