Oh My Cow! I can't let this 'FUN' revelation go.

Oh My Cow! I can't let this 'FUN' revelation go.

Just read this... uh... err... "load" eek.

http://www.chargers.com/news/a...1f-25131f1304b1

Mmmmmm-kay, Bobby.

Me, I may have turned towards, oh, I don't know, more study, maybe extra reps with Philip or individual technique sessions with a coach, heck even a few more laps around the track or reps with the weights.  Shoot, spend some time in a batting cage catching baseballs with your bare hands ("If you can catch a wrench..." or something like that).

Nope.  Let's all just have fun.

WOW.

Well I am happy to hear him say this.  Just like Golf or any sport there is psychology involved.  Basically he is saying he was way to uptight and was putting pressure on himself to perform knowing he replaced a great player. He admits he was playing poorly. He had a major drop that lost a game for us.  I get what he is saying is that he will loosen up and play better.  It might work better than any extra push ups or flim study guys.  Lets hope it works!

It was definitely wrong, to expect him to become the new V.J.
I think it would benefit him the most, if they slowly rotate him into the games with all the other receivers we have and give him the time to find chemistry with Rivers.

I like that he acknowledges his mistakes...he seems like a good kid....I'm hoping he can turn it around. biggrin

we seem to really under-appreciate the group of men that AJ has assembled in that locker room
gone are the me first and point finger type guys

i love the emphasis on character and good grounded young men, starting with our very own Philip Rivers who always seems to get on the right side of his teammates

Eric Weddle is another good example actually we have a ton of good examples

So you're saying that they give good canned quotes to the sports media? We've heard those quotes year after year after year. "Aw shucks. I screwed up (again). It's me. I need to do better."

Perhaps what this team needs is a different culture --  a culture where you get called out when you don't do your job. They're big boys. They get paid a lot.  Maybe some fingers need to be pointed when these guys eff up.

The Chargers, BTW, have ZERO emphasis on character as an organization. If they did, they'd fire Chao tomorrow. They give pay boosts to players who use PEDs.

Anyway, that "article" shows how chargers.com is the definition of amateur hour.

Hey fans, we know Robert Meachem might have sucked all season after we hyped him up to be great, but get this: He sucked all season because he wasn't having fun! And now he is going to have fun!

In other news, A.G. Spanos aced hole 6 on the Torrey Pines South Course (twice) yesterday as he saved a busload of children from drowning.

Also -- Norv Turner knows more about QBs than anyone on the planet and these fans need to take bunch of chill pills.

I agree with this 100%. He is and will be a major part of the Chargers this year or in the future. I am a supporter but I have been critical as well. The chances of him catching that pass against CLE would not have been improved if he had spent 8 extra hours at the batting cages catching passes. And yes as a proffesional reciever he should catch that pass 100 out of 100 times. But he didn't. I am glad that he recognizes that and is looking for a reason.

I don't know if he's grasping at straws, but the mental aspect of any sport at the highest level cannot be discounted. Hell ask Steve Sax, his carrer basically ended because he could not throw the baseball from 2nd to 1st...10 feet! So, I say I'm glad you recognize...lets' get'er going....c'mon man.

I am glad you agree Wes and paid attention to the thread which should only have to do with Meachem and his need to play better.

I apologize, Doc.redface You are absolutely correct and I will delete my response. As to Meachem, he is just another spoiled athlete trying to rationalize his poor play, in my opinion. At this point, he is money wasted.

I'm not under-appreciating anything. You're just giving props to the FO when it isn't deserved. Nothing new there.noidea

AJ's job isn't to run a Lion's Club. It's to run a football team. NFL players party. And yes, the guys on this "high character" team are no exception. Ask anyone who works at Bar West or Pure Platinum. They get away with crap so let's stop pretending they're all angels.

Yes, PR and Tomlinson (two guys you have severely under-appreciated and bashed) have pretty impeccable character, but it's a 53-man roster.

Funny Red because my post was not directed at you! But its all good.  So far Meachem has not earned his pay but there is still time left in this season.

Ouch Kiwi that drop singlehandly cost us the game.  He also is not getting seperation nor is he coming back to fight for the ball.  No question many balls are poorly thrown and part of it is that PR is used to  VJ who would always fight and get those poorly thrown balls.  Meachem has a lot of work to do but I think he will improve when he and PR play more together.

RE: Oh My Cow! I can't let this 'FUN' revelation go.

that was one on Meacham but hes been open 5-6 times where Rivers has failed to get him the ball

first game against Oakland in the endzone, post route Atlanta ,  Chiefs, Broncos that turned into a INT...i think its unfair that we expect WRs to come back to fight for the ball when they work so hard on getting the separation required to make the catch

all those passes were a direct result of Rivers either throwing off his backfoot or throwing on the run ohlord

now he looked better against the Chiefs when he goes back to the basics fundamentals so fingers crossed hes back to his usual self
