Danario Alexander Vs Tampa - Predictions
Tampa has some real strengths and some glaring weaknesses.
They have a potent run game now with muscle hamster and obviously some good WR with VJ leading the way.
They do have a weak secondary which just got weaker with the trade of their top CB who happens to still be suspended in Talib. I believe their other good corner is suspended too, please tell me if I am wrong.
With that said, after the Chiefs game Norv came out and said that he plans on making Denario Alexander a big part of the offense, plus Meachem and Royal may not play again this week. Denario is big and fast, but the knock has always been injuries. So here's what I'm thinking against Tampa....
The best way to limit muscle hamster is by getting an early lead. I think the Chargers need to come out quick, passing the ball, and trying to make Freeman, who is prone to making mistakes, have to pass more. By doing so, that would increase Alexander's chances for making big plays, since Floyd will probably get more of the focus on defense. Plus Tampa isn't known for putting up a lot of sacks, so Rivers should have a little more time to pass.
I think Denario could have 100 yards and a TD against Tampa, kind of like Tutu did against the Texans a few years ago, when he just joined the team, actually Tutu had 2 TDs, so maybe Denario can follow suit. Anyone want to chime in?

Another weakness is that they don't have a potent pass rush. This is a bad combination for Tampa, and we match up well because of it.
I'd actually like to see more our of TUTU in this game. He's young, and I hope we develop him. 3 targets for 65 yards and a TD is what I'm hoping for.
Alexander is going to be fun to watch as well, and if Floyd is 100%, he's dangerous too...

Lets hope he can stay healthy. We need his size, speed, and hands in the game.

This. We don't have any outstanding WRs anymore so guessing which Charger WR will have the best day is like throwing a dart at the board. Alexander is as good a guess as anyone. Let me tell you why I think Denario will have a good day. First the Bucs are excellent at stopping the run and really weak defending the pass. They also aren't known for putting pressure on the QB. This plays into Rivers hands. If Rivers has time to throw, he's going to chuck a few down field, and he's going to have to early, to try and make the Bucs get away from running the ball. If Norv doesn't try to get an early lead, by throwing often early, he's making a big mistake IMHO. Denario is like VJ, same skill set....Plus Denario came in and already from day one has more chemistry with Rivers than Meachem and Royal, which isn't saying much, but says something. I just see Denario getting 5-7 shots today, with 1-2 going for big yardage, maybe even a TD....and Denario is hungry...and wants a shot badly....Here's his chance to make a difference on this team and entrench himself as a starter. All the stars are aligned...We shall see!

Agree with Honk mostly here. I know that the weakness of the Tampa D is the secondary but having said that I predict Norv to try and establish the run like he always does right or wrong. Honk and I would love to see the Bolts start in a Hurry up shotgun pass right down the field offense but it wont happen. Norvs O is to run the ball to set up the play action and get the safeties to bite on later pass plays. This will only work if we establish the run! Getting back to the thread I think Meachem and Royal eliminate most of Alexanders touches if they are healthy.

Good points, Honk. We just have such a huge set of No. 2 WRs now that it's hard to guess who will get the snaps and the targets.

Honk was right on this one and I am glad. The downside it that the Meachem, Royal pick ups are not performing. I still miss VJ. In that second underthrown pick by Rivers VJ had a way of coming back and stealing the ball.
