Anyone know why we released Kern?  He was above the league average per punt..  Berger has probably the slowest delivery of any punter I've ever seen.. it was a miracle he didn't have one blocked today.

It seemed like Berger took a few seconds longer than he should have. He really does have the slowest delivery.

He got so lucky on the one that literally went inbetween Ed Reed's forearms. I didn't think it was even possible at that angle. Wouldn't be surprised to see another change here. Maybe Colquitt might  be coming back?

good pt frank.... i was not impressed with berger today.  He has a slow delivery and even though it seemed like his hang time was a bit longer i was not impressed with the distance of his punts... did not see an improvement in this change...

I think it was kind of stupid to cut Kern in favor of Berger. The guy sucks. I'd rather have Kern back instead of relying on Berger because you know in a crucial time he's going to get one blocked and then we're all going to be calling for his head.

I suppose we can count this move as my first official "second guess" of McDaniels.  I just don't get why we got rid of Kern.  If anyone has the inside scoop I'd love to hear it.  I really didn't see Kern as something that was broken and needed fixed. 

We were doing a great job in the field position category.. perhaps the PR for six by Sproles did him in?

Maybe McD sees something in Berger or atleast enough that he got Kerns job, but I didn't think Kern was bad. I would think the special teams unit as a whole screwed up that Sproles return, but he's going to break one every once in awhile. I don't like the move, but I didn't like the idea of Orton starting at the begining of the season either.

Kern is a boomer.  Berger is a directional, placement punter.  With the field position our team had been earning, kern was giving too many automatic starts at the 20 for the opposition, whereas Berger is a master at landing the ball within the ten and having it "stick."

Whether he still can or not... I'm not sure.

Sadly, I didn't get to watch the game yesterday because I was traveling.
