ESPNU reporting on Collins

Reece and ESPNU now reporting about COLLINS.

A field reporter said Collins mom stole the signing papers from Arkansas because she was upset about him leaving so far from home.
Collins left to go find her and the papers.

The parents signature is required on the papers to make it legal and final. Either way it goes, this is not good for Arkansas.

Even if the kid is 18? Don't know Alex's age, but it's worth asking.

Yes until you graduate your parents half to sign. It's the same with military contract, if you 18, in high school your parents have to sign. If your 18 and graduated you are good to go.

I don't see how it's bad for Arkansas if he and mom eventually sign. Maybe I am missing something? Seems like a lot of posters have the chicken little mentality no matter what happens.

If we were to win the National Championship at some point, yet have a loss to Alabama during regular season. There would be posters that would point that out within the hour after winning the Championship.

Boggles my mind.

You have to feel bad for Alex.  Seems like such a good kid too.  Now you have Reece and company on ESPN making jokes about the situation.  Sad.

Says more about ESPN than anything else.

It's a shame-this is a good kid whose mom is struggling with the decision her son has made. Not a cause for jokes.

I agree, the Miami Herald sent a reporter to the school, Collins was there in a suit and tie, ready to sign. Said he was told some people overheard his mom saying she wanted him to flip to Miami. Then they all disappeared. This is sad if true and Reece and ESPN needs to shut up about it.

All I'm saying is if momma aint happy, aint nobody happy. If this is truly what happened and somehow mom and Alex still sign, no telling the amount emotional drama/pulling that will exist from her to Alex. IF she STOLE the papers (story is alleged) and ran away with them because she doesn't want him to sign, that is a big deal. Just look at what happened with the some of the Springdale 5 (Mustain). That's all I am saying. I don't see how you can't see that.

For your National Championship hypothetical situation...that's ridiculous. That is so far from what I posted and meant.

I hope we get Alex, i'm crossing my fingers and saying my prayers. I will be depressed if we don't. He is a stud. WE NEED HIM.

Agreed. This is sad for Alex. He is a great kid seemingly and his special day just got marred with drama.

Re: ESPNU reporting on Collins

I kinda doubt a parent is gonna tell JL and CBB what to do. His mom will get over it. She is just having a problem cutting the chord.

And my hypothetical is very true, not saying you would do it, but some would.

They did it last night after a huge win against Florida. Less than an hour someone posted about winning on the road.

Re: ESPNU reporting on Collins

You can tell by his expression, especially his smile, when he announced for Arkansas that the Razorbacks is the team he wants to play for. He gave good reasons for his decision. My kids flew the coupe over twenty years ago, I remember that it wasn't easy to let go, I also knew it was useless to hang on

If he goes somewhere just to please mama, he isn't going to be happy and will always wonder, what if.

Most of us will never know how difficult a decision this is for a young man, but eventually it's a decision that he has to make for himself.

Re: ESPNU reporting on Collins

I did it when I was a kid, had a choice between the Army and USMC, could have got stationed at Camp Robinson as AC/RC. However I wanted to be a Marine, my mom had issues but she relented and I'll be honest, my parents raised me for 18 yearsin AR, but I grew up in Southern California. Sometimes getting away from mom and dad is the best thing that can happen. My kids are in 9th and 7th grade, I dread having to watch them leave.
