(OT) Where did the years go?
I just sent my sole genetic investment in this world to her first formal with a football player from Pulaski Academy. I was relieved he arrived in a two-seater.
All you guys who have little kids better go give 'em a hug and spend a little time with them. They will be grown before you know it, and all you will have left of these years are the memories you make.

I hope you answered the door with The Bible in one hand and a Gun in the other!

If a young man expresses an interest in outdoor activities, I bring the shotgun out on the first date under the guise of telling the story about how my dad died of a heart attack after shooting a deer with it.
That's a true story, but the Belgium made Browning Sweet 16 is always the real focus of the presentation.

She's a beautiful young lady. I know you're proud. I have one in college, and another in HS. The times I think the most about are being with them when they were little. Where do the years go, indeed.

Man, that's a good reminder. I started thinking that about my nine year old. Cannot imagine once they start driving and dating. But more memories coming - even for you. Just they'll be older in the memories.
Odd question, is your daughter tall or is the fellow short. I'm guessing both about 5'10, but just a guess.
Nice car.

Nice car. I can't wait to share the odd question with the happy couple.
He is actually around six feet. My daughter is 5'11, but she is wearing four inch heels.
She took another pair just in case she needed to make a height adjustment.

Re: (OT) Where did the years go?
Nos, sorry it took so long to reply but I had to gather myself and wipe a few tears away. I have a daughter who is a Sr in high school. She's already been accepted to the UofA, some 4 1/2 hours away. I have spent much of this school year remembering the past 17 1/2 years. My gosh, where do the years go? She is our only one, our only child that we have put everything into. She has been the center of our universe, I know I'm going to have to deal with it come August but I don't know how I'll react on that day when she pulls out of our driveway. All I can say is this, for those of you have young children, savior every minute and burn those images into your mind. I always heard that " they'll grow up before you know it." Really, they do!

Maybe we should form a support group. When people ask if I have any hobbies, I tell them that my daughter and her daily affairs rank at the top of a very short list.
I can't even imagine what I'll do with the time I'm gonna have.

They really do! My 21yr old son is at school in Fl. and my daughter is a junior in HS! I turned around one day and they were GROWN! Spent this afternoon trying to convince her to hangout with DAD, shopping was the top topic! Just glad she has anything to do with me, she's a teenager and dad is OLD! If you have a young one, better enjoy every minute cause it passes fast!

Lovely young lady. And, that is a very sweet ride. My oldest just turned 20 and it seems like yesterday he was the age of my youngest, 9. My oldest daughter is just turned 15 and it is almost unfathomable that she will be able to drive in just 358 days.

Re: (OT) Where did the years go?
I feel your pain. We have one child and she is a High School Senior. She is also dating a College Freshman.
We let her drive into Atlanta over the weekend for the first time by herself. If you have driven in Atlanta you know that I had some anxious moments while she was out.
She will be in college next fall and most likley about 2.5 hours away.
Seems like yesterday I was teaching her to ride her bicycle and teaching her to play basketball in the driveway...............
