Are Arkansas fans pleased with the recruiting of new staff?

Are Arkansas fans pleased with the recruiting of new staff?

I am not flaming . I really want to know the thoughts of Arkansas fans regarding the recruiting  situation. Hey, this could turn out to be the best class in the SEC but on paper I have a few questions.

So far UA has 17 commitments and 11 of them have no rating at their position at all by Rivals. There are 3 2-star recruits; 1 recruit with no stars; only 2 4-star recruits.

I understand that the star rating system has flaws and can miss some kids but 11 out of 17 not being rated at their position just seems high.

The UA staff already ran off some pretty highly thought of players. Just wondering what UA fans may think.

I think they are doing well for the situation they found themselves in.  We probably won't fill this class, but we are getting some good ones and are still in the hunt for others.  I suspect we will only be able to get 21 or so, but I would rather have a short class as opposed to throwing offers at kids that don't fit the system.  We can charge some additional scholarships next year back to this class.  I never have been over sold on star ratings.  They are a good indicator, but they aren't the "end all."  If we could recruit 20 4* QB's we would have a highly ranked class, but the team would suck.

I'm happier than a LSU fan at a Goverment Cheese Giveaway.

Oh yeah ... not flaming either.

This staff seems to be filling needs that have been neglected.  Since several of the new staff members have better national reputations for recruiting than the staff members at LSU, I'll trust their judgment in their first year.

Don't know how serious you are. Don't know how serious of an answerer you expect. But I'll bite.

We get everybody we wanted that wanted to be a HOG. Sure there are those we wanted who were not meant to be, and those who wanted to be but were not chosen, but we do have a long history of making the most out of "least".

My recollection of the best years of Razorback Athletics has always dealt with our being somewhere around dead-last in other's expectations.

We not only do our living close to the ground, but also do our best in the mud. Adversity and mud. That's all we need.

That's kind of what I was getting at. Do you think it would be wise to save some scholarships for next year or do you really think that taking all these unheralded, unranked recruits is what you should do?

Suit yourself, I was asking a question but just so you know, your heralded recruiting staff has the Arkansas class currently rated as dead last in the SEC at #60 nationally by Scout.
The Arkansas class is also dead last in the SEC and rated #54 by Rivals.

I didn't realize that your Arkansas staff was so proficient that it was ranked ahead of LSU's staff and Les Miles. I know Miles is one of the best recruiters in the nation because he has proven it. If Bielema and staff are so good then what's the problem? Or is it a situation where everyone else is overlooking all these diamonds in the rough?

Given the situation and the fact that BB runs a different offense than BP, I think the staff has done remarkably well. We probably won't sign 25 on NSD but we will likely pick up some juco players that graduate in December and can be counted against this class.

You may suppose you've got the best coach out of Arkansas since Paul Bear Bryant. And we may suppose we've got the best coach in Arkansas at this point in time. You may even reasonably believe you've got the best coach you've ever had to steal from Arkansas what you could not get from Alabama. But without that fella (felon) out of Blinn College your new HC would still be at Arkansas State, and happy to be there.

I'm glad Gus has finally gotten his chance. I happier that it's with ya'll than us. Though I much prefer an Auburn Tiger to a Tuscaloozer Bummer, and I wished he went somewhere other than the SEC West, but still I look forward to putting our 11 on field with yours. It has seldom hurt my feelings before.

Sheer genius. I don't know buddy but I will tell you that if our head coach and staff EVER turned in a class rated at #60 nationally and DEAD LAST in the SEC with many of his recruits committed to us over the likes of Arkie State, Cincy, Tulsa, South Alabama, Memphis, and the like, we damn sure wouldn't be claiming the guy was a recruiting wizard.

Talk all you want regarding what LSU does or doesn't do with talent and make yourself look stupid. LSU's last won the SEC in 2011 to Arkie's NEVER. LSU has won 2 NC's and played for a 3rd since 2003 to Arkie's last title won in 65?

LSU has won 4 SEC Championships and played in 5 SEC Championship Games since 2001. Arkie we are still waiting.

Like I said, sheer Arkansas Genius.

The series is 36-20-2. You goofs trail the series by 16 games. Arkansas has won many close games in the series and guess what? They count. So do LSU's close wins.

Arkansas is not now nor never has been on the program level of LSU.

Man I'm just not sure what you're looking at. You say 11 have "no rating," but that doesn't seem accurate (LINK). If you're referring to the players rated "JC," some of those young men are JUCO All-Americans. I mean, Mclure immediately adds 330 lbs. to the O-Line. Every JUCO looks like they'll immediately make quality contributions.

But I'm not worried a bit. Nope, not even a little. I mean, this is the coach under whom JJ Watt developed from a two star prospect to currently the best D-Linemen in the NFL. It's going to take some time, but this year is all about needs.

And I seriously doubt we'll be sitting there at #60 in Scout's rankings come national signing day. We'll be more stars heavy when it's all said and done.

EDIT: And I'm just glad that most of these kids probably won't be converted to WR biggrin

In regards to filling needs that have been neglected; maybe Jerry Jones can take some pointers and implement them with the Cowboys; the offensive line might not be so offensive. We'll wait & see how it shakes out.

Ask after signing day

then we will have a better idea.

We will not know if it was a great day until they become freshman, sophomores and Junior's.
