I just need them for dealing with fire ants but as you know they house by the millions.  Even if I get a couple hundred per round, I still need a bunch. cool

not just 9 mm, also police

I bought the almost the last box of .380 at a local gun shop and said he did not know when or if he would get more

Gun shop in Pine Bluff he has not received his order for pistols in a long time.

He had 2 left. Normally he has 50 to show.

This is happening all over the country.......................

There are several articles on shortage of ammo for the police departments

It seems lots of people are buying and stock piling ammo, as well as guns in general

I wish I could afford a Henry rifle my self...................

Now now Nostra

You know that a "shortage" creates demand which is followed by increased prices and thus profit.  It's a capitalist thing.  It's sorta like those Patriots who threw all that tea in the Boston Harbor.  Little did we know that some of them had hoarded tea knowing that prices would increase and they would make a tidy sum.  But they were Patriots right?

You know what the most disturbing thing about all this is? 99.9% of these people haven't a clue what it would take to amend the constitution in order to place a ban on gun ownership!! I did the 99.9% assuming our elected officials know but that could be a stretch.

I do and also know it is a political impossibility to ever again think we could amend the constitution. Then again that is in many ways the way it was intended.

Actually Nostra I only have a hand gun. Not hoarding or buying a market just need a few rounds to get proficient with the gun as well as my wife. But every store within 100 miles of Dallas is out of most rounds including 9mm. Mock all you please, I really don't particularly care. 2 shotguns and 1 handgun in my house. Now I went to a range yesterday and there are some scary folks at those places. The funny part is folks that think it odd or survivalist to even own a handgun.

A great example of the other extreme of the issue. I have four guns myself. Well I have two and my wife has two.

The sad part is the seeming inability to find a middle ground.  Regardless of why it was intended (IMHO, to provide the government with the ability to raise a militia in a time when we had no large standing army), the Second Amendment right to bear arms for the defense of home, person, and property  has been recognized as an individual right by the U.S. Supreme Court.  Common sense would suggest that the closer a man is to his castle, the stronger that right is.  Telling folks they can't own reasonable sorts of arms in their home is really not an option. (No turret mounted RPG's, please, Hippie).

But there are some Bolshevists and National Socialists in the making in this country that believe the Second Amendment authorizes citizens the right to own military grade weapons so they can feel free to resist the government should they become unhappy with some perceived infringement on their individual liberties.  This is not only stupid, it is historically uninformed and dangerous.

I look forward to the day when a shotgun, a rifle, or a handgun for each able adult would represent the extent of the firearms that would ever be found in any American home, and then only in the home of people who maintain the responsibilities of ownership.  I don't know how we get the message across to people, but having a loaded AR-15 in the closet is an invitation for a troubled teenager to become an orphan.

I have no concern for the profitability of the firearms industry or the people who make a living peddling firearms to people who have little use for them other than their novelty.  Three hundred million guns, especially of the variety we have in this country, is too many guns. Whip out the cash, buy some of them back, and melt the MF's.

Having only read this quickly I think you and I agree. That said, there is no national middle ground on any issue anymore. Both parties stake themselves in an impossible position and refuse to move while the bulk of the country play the middle to an empty political house.

The 2nd Amendment was written to protect the citizens of the United States from................

...their own government.  Fresh off of the founding fathers just going taking up arms against their former tyrannical government, they wanted to ensure if their newly founded government ever got out of control the people would have the ability to throw them out again.  If it were merely for home defense, recreation, or even national defense, they would have just let local laws determine how they would be governed (see slavery), but they looked to protect the government from having the power to take the guns away.  It is no small thing that this was our second amendment just behind personal freedoms.

However, that was a time when the average person could have the same gun as the military without having to have a fully automatic, high powered, belt fed machine gun or a tank.  The militia that is talked about in the 2nd amendment is not only a militia to defend against foreign invaders, but also to defend against their own government.

Times have changed and the intent of the 2nd Amendment could never be satisfied (unless you want to go splits on an F-15).  I agree that the general public does not need in anyway a fully automatic weapon and can even see the argument against a 30+ round magazine.  But to say that a weapon that holds more than 7 rounds or is a rifle with just a pistol grip will be considered an assault weapon and therefore illegal is stepping across a boundary that cannot be crossed with out an amendment to the constitution.  I have a 22 caliber rifle that holds more than 10 rounds...is that really an assault rifle?

Just my long winded 2 cents on the subject.

Not trying to start anything Nostra.  I'm just curious how an AR-15 is any different than that pistol.  And, what do you refer to when you say "a rifle"?
