Another soft tossing lefty.  Hopefully the three run 9th last night and the comeback win will get the boys fired up and ready to do some mashing.  Would be nice to pound away on Mr. Wolf early and finally have a blowout.

Beltran (.325) and Freese (.348) have fared well against Wolf in the past. Not so for Berkman (.094), Craig (.105), Jay (.111), Furcal (.241) and Molina (.250).

Will be interesting to see how the Brewers respond after yesterday. That was a pretty deflating loss on their end. I always like our odds against Wolf so hopefully Kelly can come out and perform well enough to keep some momentum going for us.

Craig couldn't have faced Wolf more than a handful of times during the regular season.

Last time the Cards faced Wolf, back in April, they got 9 hits and 3 runs off him.

I see Greene is starting at 2ndbase in this one against the lefty.  I havent followed real close the last couple of weeks but it seems like he is getting less playing time nowadays.  Or am i mistaken?

I've never been real big on using pitcher-vs-batter data to build a lineup, because you are usually dealing with such small samples. Unless it's a situation like the old George Hendrick vs Phil Niekro deal, where Whitey never played Hendrick against Niekro because Silent George said trying to hit that knuckleball would mess up his swing for a week, then I don't think managers should put too much stock into numbers like this.

What you're saying is "Berkman has hit Wolf at an .094 pace, and thus will always have trouble with him so he should sit".

It seems like you could make just as viable of a statement this way: "Berkman is a professional top-of-the-line hitter who is hitting .094 against Wolf, so he's going to be having a 3 for 4 night against him soon and thus he's playing".

An interesting question. How many at-bats become significant? In Berkman's case, he is 3-for-32 against Wolf.

Holliday gets hit on the knee in the Cardinal 1st and is removed in the 2nd inning.  Hopefully just to get some ice, a precautionary measure.  Probably wont see him tomorrow I would assume.

1-0 Milwaukee after two innings.  Hart an rbi single in the Brewer 1st.

He batted from the right side. A potential ball four pitch was called a strike. Then, he struck out on a check swing that looked to be a strike. After returning to the dugout, Berkman came back out to argue and was ejected.
